I'm looking at a 95 4x4 auto. with about 145k. What problems might I encounter. I had a 95 4x2 auto, with turned up pump 370's etc... so I know the basics, I'm just wondering about the things I didn't have i. e. Transfer case, front axle. Or anything else that you guys might be running into. Thanks a bunch. Sean

What I found to be weak In my 95

The automatic transmision Is the weakest link In the 95. Ask what and when on this. What has been done to the trans and torque converter which Is weak also. When was the trans service? I would worry more about the trans then anything else since he turn up the power on the engine. Checks the brakes, drive shaft for play, front end for wear, the steering Is a weak point also. Then there rust and that depends on wear you live? The condition Is what a 95 Is all about as you know. Take your time and do the Inspection and check It over with a fine tooth comb. If you half to pay to have It done do It worth the money. Good Luck. I love my 95. I spent 3 grand on my trans to make It super. I guess we all take risk ever now and then?

Thanks guys, that pretty much what I figured. Right now the truck completely stock and the transmission was replaced at 75k. Everything seems strong, and it doesn't feel like its slipping but as soon as I do some stuff to the pump that will change. Thanks, sounds like a usual dodge, everything is built to last except the transmission.

Check the ball joints, steering linkage, and front wheel bearings for play. I have some play in the '95 I just bought, in the ball joints and linkage, but it still steers almost as straight as my '96 that has had everything redone.

I started a thread within the last month or so, about '95's. Some guys gave some good feedback, if you want to search for it... .

On the transmission, put a hi-performance valve body in it ASAP. This allows more fluid to flow through it & chances are you won't burn it out. I did this to mine at 25K, and haven't had a problem with it, except the lines rotted & had to be replaced. transmission's been good, & I plow it.
