Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) looking at a 98.5 5 speed

just wondering what i need to be looking for. i know i need to check fuel pressure. what else? PO(also original) said it went to the dealer for 5th gear nut under warranty and also "some kind" of injection pump repair. it's totally stock afaik. i'll be taking a look at it tomorrow and would love some ideas. thanks in advance.

ok, maybe this is in the wrong forum? just checked it out and drove it though. oil pressure was fine, fuel pressure was not(i don't think). at idle, it was about 3psi and under very light acceleration it would drop to 0! it drove pretty nice, didn't shift well though. i saw some aamco transmission warranty paperwork too. kinda bummed about that. wondering if i hooked up the fp gauge to the proper fitting. here's a pic. i'll put a couple pics of the rig up too. asking price is 15,500. whaddya guys think? thanks again for any help. just not familiar with these trucks with so many valves .

oh yeah, it's got 149k on the odometer. price includes camper too. said it cost 13k new a few years ago. got all the goodies inside. i checked out their website, looks like a cool company.

one more thing, it DOES have a 53 block.

Yeah thats the right place to check you fuel pressure.

Those #'s you posted are BAD!!! with that many miles, a 53 block and the fact that it will be needing a lift pump and likely an injection pump, I would try to get the price down around $11k.

Oh yeah I forgot the transmission dosn't shift good either.

didnt know ya was lookin for a 24v.



the rig u lookin at ya can bet vp44 is damaged with that low of fp



there is a local guy selling his 99. harold did a bunch of work on it. the vp44 was replaced at the stlrship some time back and the dummies didnt chnge lp so it ruined another one. harold replaced vp44 and replaced lp w/ a carter 4601hp. this rig has a new ats transmission built by randy milburn the idaho ats installer. has comp and guages including fp. believe the guy ryan porter will sell for reasonable price as he just got an 05



also i know where a camper like that is. a local guy w/ a 98. 5 is sellin his camper for 2k
