I am looking into replacing the Pin Box on my 5er. I have been looking at the TrailAir 5 wheel pin box. Has anyone replaced their pin box with this style or a similar one?

If you have did you install it yourself, or did a dealer install it for you?

How is the ride after installing a unit like this, was there an improvement?

I do not want to go with the Air hitch as I need to have a slider hitch for my truck.

Thanks

Jim

My HitchHiker fiver has a Demco "Glide-Ride" king pin. It is standard on the '07 and later HHs. Demco Glide Ride

It is a simple mechanical device that requires no checking, adjusting, inflating, or maintenance and very effectively eliminates the "chucking" movement or jerking back and forth that many fifth wheels create.

It shouldn't cause any conflict with use of a slider hitch.

2nd for the 5th airborne and with the sidewinder part , you don't need a slider hitch. it pivots at the mount bolts. . I had a '01 2500 and was able to turn 90 deg with it.

I have a 09 3500 LB now and don't need it. Looking to sell it and put my old stock pinbox back on. . I will be doing airbags on the rear suspension too so ride won't be bad.

The pics are of the system. . you see the exray view. . and the other pic is of my truc in a 45 deg. turn. . there is a wedge in the 5th wheel hitch so the turning is olnly done by the turret.

Thanks Harvey and Cumminz,

Wife wants me to get one now but not enough time to order and install before we leave on our trip this week.

I will be install the Demco Glide Ride in late June or early July before our camping trip with the Gand Kids in mid July.

Since every day is a Saturday for me I can work on it when we get back.

Cumminz, I will be in NC staying in Asheville NC, in the federal campgrounds around the 16 of June.

Jim
