Looking at a used 99.....strange history

Well I got a big surprise today! I went back to look at the 1 owner truck with 4. 10 gears and found out they were 3. 54's!!!! The guy that is selling it just thought they were 4. 10's, but the underhood option code sticker had been removed and was stuck in the glovebox. Sure enough, it was 3. 54's. He was saying at 65 he was turning close to 2000 rpms, so that should be right. I confirmed by a test drive too. So I bought it and should have it home by tomorrow, after a trip to the bank!

My '99 with auto and 4:10s turns about 2100rpm at 64 mph.

Same here, my 2000 auto with 4. 10's is 2000 rpm's @ 64-65 mph.

Well I just got her home! WOW I love the power of the 24Valve, and the quiet and smooth ride compared to the ol' 93! I chacked the window sticker and even crawled under the truck and the tag on the rear is 3. 55. I checked the rpm and at 72 mph I was turning just a tad over 2000 rpm, which looks like it definately is a 3. 55! I'm as pumped as a kid on Christmas morning!!! My wife just shakes her head... . Heck, I drove it home 35 miles with the windows down just to hear that awesome Cummins sound, even though it was a chilly 38 degrees... . who cares!!! I'm back in the saddle again!

Congrats . Sounds like you got a good one. I think I have one too. About a week or so ago I was at my dealer having a new lift pump installed. While i was there I drove a 2002 3500 Reg. cab 4x4 HO 6 speed. Well they tried to get me to trade mine in for the HO 6 speed. Unlike mine it would fit in my garage. I decided to keep mine, it is just too nice and with only 44K miles on it just broken-in. I was there today getting the oil changed and the service manager told me he was disappointed that I didn't trade, because he was going to buy my truck. Said it was one of the nicest and best maintained trucks he had seen. Told him to stand by that I might get a 2005
