Sounds great good luck. You can start a build thread. Add some pics.

I think it was a great idea if you want to do the work and research.

Few sites.

Heres an update. I still continue to find forum posts on the internet particularly where people have a problem where they say: I've got an appointment for the repair and I'll post a follow up soon. Then nothing. Not every one of these people have rolled their car on the way to work and were ejected. So here is my follow up.

I have been driving the truck for almost 7 months and logged about 11,000 miles. I just changed the oil at 10k miles. a bit longer than I probably should have but not bad. I had the oil tested at blackstone as well. I had a cold sample. It had a bit of fuel in it but blackstone suggested it may have been the cold sample. It also had signs of coolant. Blackstone suggested it was early signs of a bad head gasket. I do my own work and don't have a large shop so I will likely try to hold off until spring. I plan to use a bottle of K-seal as I have had tremendous luck with it on two other applications. I know a head gasket on this truck will run upwards of $1000 in parts (gaskets and studs). This cost still puts my truck at a "deal". I also found the steering a bit loose with a clunk in the steering. When I had it in for the state inspection all the front end components are a part of that. He found no loose parts. I finally tightened the adjustment on the steering box. I went way too far at first. I then backed it off but because I had a 5 hour trip planned the next day and it was nearing midnight so I left it where it was. That was 3 weeks ago. The tightness is just that going down the road I need to push a little harder than I like to correct the steering. A few days ago the latest issue cropped up. A check engine light came on. Code says its EGT sensor #5. I can't imagine they need that many sensors. I checked the wires near it and they look fine. Tried to remove it and its stuck. I probably will give it one more try with heat applied. i want a new sensor in hand. I also will likely buy a replacement bung so that I can weld it in place and abandon the original one. Finally it seems my heated seat is not working properly. I tested it earlier and it was fine. Now that its cold it doesn't work right. Had an occasion where the light would go out quickly after hitting the button. Last night though it did come on but I think only the back of the seat warmed up. That was only on my return trip on my drive. Hope this provides insight for anyone considering purchasing a high mileage new truck.

Look at the steering column under the dash for your clunk. There’s a pin holding the column together just before the firewall. The hole in the collar gets sloppy. You can Bush it with tubing or you can purchase a repair kit on the Internet from an outfit who’s name escapes me at the moment. If this is your problem it’s a cheap and easy fix.
