tell me about the injectors and anything else cause it's been a long time since a new truck came to the house . :D and I don't want any regrets . no I'm not getting rid of the old one .

I would post this in the fourth Gen forum. You may get more answers back from readers of the fourth gen forum.

I do have a 6. 7L with only 52,000 miles on the truck. Truck was bought new in Nov. 07, and I am the original owner. I have installed the 5 micron fuel filter from Cummins and an additional 2 micron filter from Glacier Diesel Power added a head of the CP3 pump. This is to protect the pump and injectors due to the requirement of some states requiring Bio-Fuel to be sold and the results that bio-fuel can clean the fuel tank and send debris downstream.

Several members Like Harvey B. have put on more trouble free miles than I have. They have responded favorably in the past on the performance and reliability of the 6. 7L engine.

I would recomend a xx-fuel filter system for fuel system protection, and an h&s tuner for mileage help... . great truck automatic kinda sucks though... . beware.

I really like the new 6 spd auto. I am not an auto fan at all. Do to medical reasons I was forced to into one. With that said. The auto shifts great except for the stacked shifts. The stacked shifts do not happen all the time, only under very light load conditions. They do not in the Tow/Haul mode. The exhaust brake and autos did not very well at all. The new truck (my 2011) exhaust brake works better than my last stick truck. The truck holds lockup and downshift slowing the truck very quick especially when using brakes in a hurried stop. I am very happy with this truck, less road noise, miss the engine purr, better interior, did I mention heated steering wheel, better steering, better brakes, ect. Dodge stepped up and built a competing truck. Sam

I've only got 12000 miles on my 2011 RAM 2500 mega cab (loaded!) and I couldn't be happier. It's night and day from anything Dodge has done. The seats (I've got bucket seats with an awesome consol) are very comfortable, the cab is quiet, the ride is amazing, there's tons of power to pull my Airstream up the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the transmission shifts like a dream and in the tow/haul mode with the exhaust brake on it down shifts so nicely on down grades I never touch the brakes.

I agonized for over two years about this truck since my '01 is such a great truck (I need to get that baby sold :( ) and I did a lot of research and looked at what folks had to say and I'm extremely happy with my new truck and I think you will be too.

As far as problems go... 3 years 36000 mile warranty and 5 year 100000 mile power train... I'm not worried.

Mike

Oh, really?? Wow, so the 68RFE is trash. That's a new one on me and a lot of other 4th gen owners, I'm sure.

Rusty

Not trying to stir things up but they are not holding up real well in our mountainous area and have had problems stock or not... torque convertor seems to be failing gradually first and sending shrapnel into the transmission. On the 48re we have always done a suncoast valvebody and toque convertor and are getting 1000s of trouble free miles. If you talk to the respected transmission shops they are saying there is not a whole lot of things they can do to make the 68rfe better... . I am also a big toyota fan who has been using aisin products for years and was initially excited about these transmissions and am now a lil bummed. I have even seem problems with the 68rce (?) that is in the sterlings and cab n chassis trucks. So not a new thing around here... .

There seems to be some confusion in your statement. The 68RFE is NOT the Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission used in the Dodge C&C trucks. The 68RFE is a Mercedes/Chrysler design and is a completely different beast. The Aisin has PTO capabilities often required in commercial applications; the 68RFE used in the pickups does not.

I can't dispute what you report as first-hand observations (I have no way of knowing what you have or haven't seen), but I have not noticed complaints of 68RFE failures in stock trucks in towing applications, either on this forum or on RV forums such as iRV2, and the 68RFE has been around since the 2007. 5 model year. Frankly, given the level of complaints of 47RE and 48RE failures in towing service, I don't see the 68RFE (or the Aisins, for that matter) as anything nearly comparable in terms of frequency of problems.

Thanks Rusty..... WHEW!!! I was about to drive my truck off a cliff and end it all for the truck and myself!
