Looking at Power Boats

Looking at boats for Grand Taverse Bay and Lake Michigan. Of course, I'm new to the power boat thing, and I'd like to explore the option of something Cummins powered. Are they only in giant cruisers and tugs? I have only run accross gas powered boats, so I'm wondering WHERE ARE ALL THE MARINE DIESELS?

How big of a boat are you looking at? I am currently looking into a 24 to 26' boat. From what I see on the web and brochures, MerCruiser and Volvo both offer diesels, not Cummins though. If i remember right, JLEONARD has a Cummins in his boat, I think it is a MainShip, and it's the same one as in our trucks.

A friend told me about a Four Winns Horizon 24' that a good friend is going to be selling. It got me out and looking just a little bit at other boats. I'm not sure what I want yet. Just something that will handle the open water at a decent speed (not too small), but I don't want something that seems too large to easily manuever.
