I have a friend that needs some help

I have been considering a target rifle in . 308 and really like the AR based platform. I was looking at the M1A and although they are a beautiful rifle the cost seems high for the performance level.

One of my customers just purchased a DPMS Panther Longe Range 308 and is getting excellent out of the box accuracy.

I really like the cleaner lines of the DPMS over the Armalite AR-10 and some of the other variants. Have any of you guys had any experience with the DPMS and do you have any suggestions?

I have had both and I prefer the M1A. It is more accurate and more reliable than My DPMS was. The thing I noticed with my DPMS was that it did not like soft points, And it did not like light/hot ammo. If i was shooting anything under 150GRN it seemed to have a hard time grouping. That said with 165 GRN balistic tips shooting about 2450 Fps. it would shoot real nice. They do not like to shoot at all when they are dirty. At least mine didn't. As far as quality and wokmanship goes the DPMS is hard to beat for a production run firearm. best of luck with whatever you decide. PM me if you have questions.

Where In Utah are you located?

I have a "few" :-laf DPMS AR's, but in 223.

Theyre excellent quality and pretty accurate (for a production line gun) out of the box.

You GOT TO break in the barrel thay way they say to in the paperwork !!!!!!

These arent match quality barrels, but can do very nicely if broken in properly.

In addition to better grouping, they'll clean up faster if broken in the proper way.

I sell DPMS stuff (not recievers, i cant get a state licence here behind the iron curtain) so I'm PM'ing you with the dealer cost so that you dont get raked over the coals.

PS I'd really like to get one in 6. 8mm. Oo.

Thanks Patriot for the info, I will keep that in mind while shopping.

Bertram, I like the 91, and have shot my friends SAR-8, but I want to stay with the AR platform.
