01 3/4 shortbed???

hey Curtis (cjohnson1)...

Sounds like a great project. Yeah, it's on my list of things to do--76-79 SuperCab Ranger XLT Camper Special with a 5. 9/NV5600:D. On the list right after Pulling Truck and fix up the old 77 gasser and fix a couple of tractors...

I was originally looking for a 75 highboy-supercab, but those are like chicken teeth-you can't find them. You guys keep me updated. I'm sure when I find an engine I'll need alot of advice.

Those late 70's Fords were great trucks! I had a '79 regular cab 4X4 for 13 years. It was only hooked up to a tow truck once, and that was when the distributor shaft broke. I got broadsided by a Chevy 1/2 ton truck, and it didn't take much body work to fix it (I drove it home, no frame damage). The Chevy looked like it might have been totaled.

Whenever I see a really clean '78 or '79 4X4, especially a supercab, it puts a smile on my face. I keep saying that someday I'm going to buy one and fix it up.

One of the coolest features of those '73-'79 Fords is the toolbox built into the passenger side of the bed. Why don't they offer that feature on today's trucks? That's just wasted space under the bed.

I built a 78 1/2ton 4by from the ground up. Originally a 6cyl-I put a 351w in it. New body panels all the way around, lifted 4 inches, 33-14. 5-15 swampers, 12inch welds, custom interior, rhino in bed. Then like an idiot I sold it. My next project is the 76 with a CTD.

That's cool

I had checked that out last week. It gave me alot of ideas on how I will have to do mine. I recently aquired a new truck to house the mighty CTD. 79 Ford 3/4ton supercab. So the 76 is out of the picture now. Oo.

I'm working on a 1978 F250 4x4 Crew Cab Shortbed. A semi restore job. Nothing way out of hand, but new paint, molding, glass, gaskets, etc.

460, 4spd, pretty plain jane. Passes emissions without a cat, no air pump, etc. Kinda the last year in the Ford to get this setup.

Even though the 460 is nice running, I want a daily driver, and want the torque/hp up that the I6 can offer, so likely it will get the cummins. - maybe the one in my 1992 D250. But then I have a reasonable D250 with no engine to get rid off, probably fairly worthless?

A super cab F250 or F350 would be great with the cummins! Might have to highboy it yourself, and find a nice Dana 60 for the front (mines a Dana 44, sigh).

later, jon.

Mine is a 44 also. But I have a pretty good idea where I can get a 60. There are alot of old fords running around where I'm from that have the cummins in them, but none of them are supercabs.
