Cheapest place to get a prodigy brake controller?

I am currently hauling for Horizon Transport. Not quite paying the bills. I am willing to buy a trailer on lease on with a hotshot company if the $$ make sense. I live in MI, have an 01 Dodge 3500 4x2,6spd, with 5th, goose and class III receiver, 115 gallons of extra fuel in the back and a few mods to the Cummins to improve pulling/MPG. GCWR is 23,500, plated at 26,000. I am 48 years young with a clean driving record. (I was an Engineer with General Motors up until a year ago. ) Any leads would be appreciated!

Hot Shot !!

I pulled hotshot for one year and met a lot of drivers with other companies, most of whom were very unhappy. The company I was leased on with " Pacer " out of Desoto, Tx. Nice people but " NO FREIGHT " ended up running loaded one way at a decent rate, then the back trip empty to get to a good paying load. You either wait days for a load and then deadhead 300 miles to get it or deadhead back empty for a good pay load. Either way is a loser. I kept detailed records for the year and realized I would do better pulling (Bennett) trailers. That, decision by the way has proved correct. The very few Hot Shot drivers I met that were happy worked for about 3 companies that pay well and keep their drivers loaded and pay well. It is very common for them to be overloaded for the size trucks we are running. All 3 have certain things in common. 1. Based in or near the oil patch (Houston, etc. ) 2. Driver must live within 50 miles of dispatch office and be on call to pickup within one hour of receiving the call. 3. On call means start any time ( 3 AM etc. ) and make the run (Hot Freight) I had no desire to move to TX or OK . We have members on this board who do well maybe they will be willing to pitch in. Good Luck RC

Are you set up with your own authority/insurance, or are you looking to run for someone that is?

Do you have a Class B? I have information on a sweet dedicated backhaul back here to the Midwest. You will get outbound loads saved and held for you preferential to the backhaul area.
