No More Diesel Liberties in WA or Calif---

I have been considering buying a new truck ever since mine got over 500K miles on it. Has anyone had any experience in the International CXT or a GMC Kodiak or a Ford F650 or F750???? I am looking for something that will hold up longer than regular automakers are willing to do with less work and less upgrades. It seems like my last 10 upgrades to my truck were for things that should have been redesigned at the factory. And I am really tired of replacing ball joints, tie rod ends, end track bars... ... ...

Just looking for some other opinions.

Thanks,

Brad

:{ So you got over 500 thousnd miles on your truck and are looking for something better. Hello, You are drivg the best there is. If you want to buy something else at least make sure it has a Cummins in it. :)

Don't know if it bothers you or not, but the mileage in the CXT and Kodiak are terrible. I don't know if you tow anything, but if you do, your truck now will out tow the CXT. Can you say "GUTTLESS"?

If you do buy a medium duty truck, make sure you spec it with some power. Most of the medium dutys come with pretty low HP, most newer pick-ups have more power. We have some GMC Topkicks at work, the older body style. In my opinion they are just large pick-ups, they are no where near as heavy duty as say an International or small Freightliner. That being said, nice heavy suspension and air brakes kick butt. Happy shopping.

Living in the San Diego area I see a large number of desert goers. The most popular thing to do in this area is to have a dune buggy or quads and go to the desert which means you have about a 8% grade going down one way and coming UP the other. To make things more dificult you are usually starting this climb out of the desert between 90-100 degrees and for some reason everyone keeps buying more toys and larger trailers. I think this is one of the best testing areas short of the serious Rockies and you see a lot of money being spent on larger tow rigs, larger engines and larger brakes. I have seen more and more medium duty or larger tow rigs in the last few years, and I can tell you all you get with most of them is larger brakes and a lower horsepower to weight ratio than we have in our Dodges, this leads to these guys with the IHC, Frtliner and Kodiaks getting their doors blown off coming up the HILL much to all amusement so make a good choice or you will surely regret it.

You never stop looking right??? I do love my truck, I am not saying that. I just wanted some more opinions and this forum never seems to have a lack of them!!!

Thanks for the input. I am going to try to make it another two or three years with the truck I have. We'll see how it goes!!!
