I'm having a hell of a time searching for someone who makes a large rifle storage box with the waffle foam separators. I would like to be able to store about 10 to 15 old rifles in bags and place in some type of sealed chest for long term storage ... but every time I search the net for such an items all I get are gun safes.

Any of you guys know of some company that sells such things?

A chest approx. 48" long, 18"-22" tall, and 24" or so wide.

I can picture a nice setup in my head, but a manufactured box I have never seen.

I'd like an old chest type box, lined with carpet and 2 rows of racks inside holding about 5-6 scoped rifles, with another row on top of that one.

The box you speak of sounds like a home job, I'm sure there's custom places around that could help you out.

Becareful with long term storage, dessicant and proper oil treatment would be crucial.

Let me know what you find. I'm in a similar situation. I built a "vault" type room and have no need for a safe. I am close to building a nice rack system on the wall for storage.

I was afraid that this would have to be something I would have to make. My concern is that I would like the box to be weather tight ... and wood would not cut it.

A friend of mine has a steel chest with wooden felt covered spacers to keep the rifles separated. It's got two locks and is pretty heavy. If this sounds like it might fit the bill, I'll see if he remembers who makes it or where he purchased it.

MGordon ... if your friend remembers who made that chest, please let me know ... if they have a web site that I can see it, that would be great.

Thanks.

Maybe you are looking for something better but how about an old freezer? They even have a small lock on them and seal up pretty tight.
