Need help!

On 12valve trucks (and most dodge vehicles) turn the key on-off three times and the computer will flash the check engine light to give you the codes. ABS codes require grounding a pin in the OBD connector. Why buy a scan tool when the truck will give you the info for free? Delete this post now if you are trying to talk you wife into letting you buy more tools : )

Not all trucks will display the codes, unfortunately my truck is one of them.

If you buy the right scan tool you can read live run data, scan codes, erase codes, reset MIL, and freeze frame to better see what is causeing problems and diagnose problems that have not surfaced yet, at least this is my understanding if you buy the right scan tool for a few bucks more, not just a code reader, which you can buy for less. If I am wrong some one please correct me.

For those that were curious about the Quickcheck from Cummins it is a very cool little gadget however it DOES NOT erase codes it only lets you see what is happening and shows you which codes are present.

You are correct about the function of the scanners.

The OEM Enhanced upgrades from AutoXray are about $50. 00 per manufacturer. The bad news is they are still working on Chrysler - they say it should be out in a few months.

I am only going by what the manufacturers, members of the TDR, and others have told me. I can not verify any of these statements without actually useing the scanners myself, which is why I am asking about them to see which one would better suit my needs.
