I was looking to get another 3500 CTD today and when I looked underneath them they were all 53 blocks. I looked at a 1999, 2000 and 2001, all duallys. Even with a warranty I couldnt get myself to do it. I came home tonight and thought I havent seen a good 53 thread lately and low and behold there it was "99 and 53 block questions". I saw something that dropped my jaw, Cummins will now only pay $1000 towards the replacement of the block as compared to 50% or $4500 of the cost. He quoted Ken Scobel at Cummins Main. My 53 cracked in October of 2003 and I guess I was fortunate to have Ken pay half.

well,,,,,,, wld ya settle for a 12v. a local tdr member who isnt on internet but a member of the idaho tdr group is goin thru hard times and i just got off the phone a few minutes ago with him, he is gonna sell his 97 12v [non 53] club cab dually 2wd nv4500. he bought it brand new and he only used it on longer trips usually with a 26 foot 5'er. he has lots and lots of goodies on it and it is perfect condition. may madness show and shine winner in fact. get this,,,,,,,,,it has 41,000 original miles

dang 53 block struck a local member a few months ago. early 01 not too far out of wrrnty. took a little work and a litl luck but dealin with a really good dlr and also callin cummins they agreed cummins pay half and dc pay half. the 1st dlr he tried [dlr who steals] tried to tell hin 11,000 to do the job and he pays all. good thing he made a bunch of calls and got cummmins and dc to do whats right

Thanks for the reply muddymess, I was actually looking for a 4x4 with a 6spd. Your friend must of been really close to 100k to get DC to kick in 50% along with Cummins. (Very nice of them).

I have a 2000 dually, I have looked for the #53 and could not find it ( I was told were to look) Is it possible mine is not a #53? It was built in Mexico?

yeah vaugn, youve seen this rig at most of the idaho events youve attended. the real clean driftwood dually with the underhood chrome and all the goodies. had 36000 last time ya saw it in march at harolds. belongs to mark sparkman of boise

yep ddt, could be possible your 2000 doesnt have a 53. makes no differnce where rig was asembled tho. if a series of numbers other than a 53,54, 55, or 56 is visible under there it may be the mexican blck which is stronger than the brazilian 53. im crossing my fingrs for ya
