Trying to close the deal on a truck at Dave Smith's.

I just don't have the time to fly up there and drive back this time of year so I'll need a transport company.

Do I pick a local company down here? Or do I find one around Kellog?

Send a PM to TDR member "photowrite". IIRC, he had his new truck delivered to him from DSM.

I'm pretty sure they can deliver trucks to your local dealer, and then that dealer is paid the prep to get it ready for delivery. I could be wrong here, have you asked them?

DSM recommended a great company for myself and another local buyer. Our trucks were delivered in great shape on time.

Tate&Son Trucking, LLC

This was 12-18-06.
Cost was $900 ea. 1400 miles but many years ago.

I have used this guy in the past. -- email address removed -- when I needed to ship my Challenger. Had no issues at all.

If I were purchasing a new vehicle and was having it delivered using 3rd party transport, I would require covered transport and damage insurance for it.

if you are buying a stock unit you will be paying shipping twice. If you order it it can be delivered to any dealer near you one shipping charge

None of my dealers within 100 miles of here will not compete with out of state dealers. I've already given up on buying local.

And....my truck was sold to another buyer today. Oh well, my fault. I knew I should have made a deposit.

He did, and I replied. :)

For the record I used Dave Smith's regular/suggested transport company. I too didn't have the time to run up there and thought the shipping was reasonable. My rough calculations indicated it would have only saved me approx. $150-200 to go get it, and time was a bigger factor.

JHawes,

In case you didn't see the PM?

Please tell me you are buying a G56 truck? ;)

I had to look at my log book for the name, I didn't save the contact info.

FYI, because this is the regular/main company that Dave Smith uses, the cost was put on my deal and Dave Smith handled the logistics. Seemed the easiest wisest choice for me.

Photowrite is correct about the shipping. My time for the next several months as we get into our business season gets limited unless its planned far ahead of schedule. I don't prefer to buy site unseen but at this point, I don't have much choice.

Check out Bonham Chrysler in Tx. they sell quite a lot out of state and deliver them, And they have some pretty decent prices on the new Rams, you can buy loaded for mid 50s, anyway worth checking out, Monte
