New Dyno Day In Colorado w/ the Powerstroke folks!

well concidering your in the same town as WYOTECH you might want to check with them. I know they have a dyno and I would be willing to bet if you talk to one of the diesel professors over there they might be able to help you.

Wyo tech does have a dyno but it is my understanding that it in not capable of our HP ??? I cant understand how a tech school this good doesnt have a good dyno.

Get hold of member GeisJ or 98 rammer for direction on a good shop, I for one wouldnt be fraid at all to turn my rig over to the TDR Wyo tech guys, saw them in action at the Wyo TDR gathering a few weekends ago and they can handle your needs :) Way to go guys :)

Cheers, Kevin

When I was going to school at Wyo Tech a year and a half ago in the diesel program, all they had was a flywheel water dyno (which by the way didn't work very well cause we didn't have a big enough water supply. ) There was another dyno they had on a stationary International engine for demonstration purposes only. Maybe the auto or high perf engine program has one, but not sure. There is a good diesel perf shop here in Rapid City, and there is also a place that dyno's pickups, too. If you are interested, email me and I can get you names and numbers to the places here in Rapid City.

CAT Diesel Tech

ps. we have a dyno here at Butler Cat, but it is probably too big for pickups (made for trucks. )

Just saw this post and am responding. feel free to PM. There is sort of a Ricer shop in town that had a dyno day at the beginning of summer but they do not have one regularly. What can I do to help?

PS - you would think the Tech school would be a good resource but it just hasn't been yet...

Performance shop!

Bwagner... Don't know if you would be interested, all the guys in Northern Utah, usually go to Ken Jones of Diesel Performance of Utah. Located in Odgen. He works partime M-F 9-3pm. He does all work on 12v & 24v, gages, exhausts, SouthBend clutches, injectors, Edge boxes, pumps, complete engine etc. Good guy, very knowledgeable, very reasonable. Give him a call and let him know I RECOMMENDED him.

yeah, the only dyno in the diesel program (that's running) is the ZF automatic transmission dyno (more of a tester than a dyno). i believe that there's an actual roller dyno in the automotive department, but i'm not really sure.

Me, Iron Horse (DTR), or i'm sure Jason would all be willing to help you out if you'd like to do some mods. but no, there's no diesel performance shop.

i guess they get a portable dyno in at that ricer-type shop now and then?

Yep, my exact thoughts. Thanks again guys!!

On the hot rod side they have an engine dyno, not near big enough for our engines. I went to school there in 01 and the water dyno was fine on the smaller diesels but to small for the big ones. The 3406E Cat that I put it on kinda overheated it:eek: OOPS and it came out of a rolled class 8 tractor.
