Just finished installing -6 lines from the filter housing to the vp44.

idle pressure up, maybe . 5 lb.

wot up maybe 1 lb.

if your looking for more, get the upgraded spring. the larger lines don't do much.

I'm guessing that the pump will move the amount of fuel the spring is set for, regardless of weather or not you have banjos or free flow fittings.

I guess after spending $60 in fittings, i'll go for the free spring ;)

Jason,

Got my fittings yesterday and the FASS II (with new/improved spring) was sitting on my porch when I got home today. I think the fittings from Summitt can only help in this system, increases volumn. I plan on installing this weekend, but weatherman is predicting rain. Also have a DSS to install. Will post on upgrade when completed.

Take care,

Casey

What is the new FASS pump delivering for pressure?

Just got it back from ATS with new gauges. Looks like 11psi at idle, 10psi at 70MPH (flat, no load) and about 9. 5psi when I stomp on it up the mountain. That's with the stock FASS spring and fittings. I still want to put the 90 degree fitting on the pump, I think the kink in the blue hose will only get worse.

Would someone provide a detailed explanation about the "spring" mentioned in this thread. Where is it? What is it? What does it do, etc? I don't recall seeing other threads referring to a modified spring, at leat not in 24v trucks.

Thanks in advance.

Tim

isb,

I had to adjust some of the studs on my pump to get a lock washer and nut on when I intalled it. if you loosen the nuts on the studs, the bottom aluminum block will come off of the pump along with a gasket, spacer and o-ring if I remember. under the spacer is a spring (maybe about 1" long and 1/4" diameter with a check ball on top of it. I believe that is the spring that needs to be changed.

Hi Jason,

We're talking Lift Pump, right? Do you know what the spring does? It sounds like it has something to do with check valves and bypass.

Thanks

Tim

i too was going to put together a maxflow kit. but after looking at the -6 fitting it is not much bigger that the banjo bolt, i also saw were someone use -8 fitting with are for a 1/2 hose but had no luck finding a 12x1. 5 to -8 fitting. was this special made or what. i need to figure something out i'm only running 6 lbs at idle.

AOhlmeier,

are you running the new FASS pump or stock lift pump?? if you have the fass, i don't think even upgrading to -8 lines is going to give you much at all. You will need the new spring. The factory filter housing seems to be very restrictive. if you have a factory lift pump, -6 lines are good, but your pump is almost dead.

I know a guy that made his -8 fitting for the vp44. i don't know if you can buy them or not.

Jason

Not to get off topic, but with the stock LP, the MaxFlow kit made a world of difference, with the difference being more noticeable the more you put your foot into the throttle. Idle FP was nearly identical, whereas before MaxFlow (TST PM3 setting #4, Mach II's) I could pull FP down to 1-2psi, it won't pull down past 8-9psi on same settings. Significantly less restriction.

I'm liking the sound of the FASSII. Best source?

Tim,

I would agree about the fuel lines especially with a stock pump. this pump just seems to push so hard, that the -6 lines aren't giving much more than 1 psi at wot, at least for me. I am sure the flow is better and less restrictive and maybe if i had some real fuel going into this motor I would notice more of a difference.

I'm still very happy with it and would buy it again in a heartbeat. I really don't think my pressures are bad. above 8 psi at WOT is absolutely fine with me. I'm just looking ahead to future BOMBS.

best place to buy one?????? I can't help you there, I'll just say that I got mine through MASS DIESEL

Jason

Installed the FASS II today with the help of my neighbor. I am getting 22 psi at idle. I was going to upgrade the line from the filter housing to the VP44 but I needed to a move my banjo bolt that was pre filter to post filter so that I had reading capability. I didn't order the parts from Summit when I got the items needed to do the line upgrade. I'll do this this week and put it on after I get it. Had a leak at the 90* fitting from the pump to the filter housing. Had to grind a couple of threads off so that when it was snug and not leaking, it was in the proper position to attach the fuel line. This should be the last pump I have to deal with on my truck.

Casey, I placed my order earlier today also.

I picked up a fuel pressure adapter too. I don't have the p/n handy, but its in the aeroquip section and it has -6 male to -6 female with a 1/8" npt port in it. I think the total for all fittings was about $65.

I am going to try to install these on Saturday and I'll post what my new pressures are.

Later,

Jason

Jason,

If you can, would you post the p/n for the fuel pressure adapter. Having no luck locating that particular item via Summit.

Thanks,

Casey

Casey,

sent you a pm, but for everyone else I'll post here.

I ordered a part from the Summit site and it was described as an 1/8" npt port with -6 male and -6 female connections. I was suprised to find this.

Well, when UPS delivered it, it was -6 male to male with an 1/8" npt port. Even the packing slip described it wrong.

So, long story short, I never found a male to female -6 fitting like this. Sorry for the bad info.

Thanks,

Jason

Guys try Summit Part Number SUM-G1710, this is what I was looking for to plice in my FP gauage. 3/8 hose barbs on each end and 1/8npt for port. Like $6. 00.

Hope this helps.

I don't know why so many TDR members are using a FASS lift pump. I have the BD Auxiliary lift pump that comes with a Kit that contains everything you need plus instructions. Its very easy to install in about one hour. Check it out on the internet. BD has a very good discussion forum and someone from the company can answer all your questions quickly.
