I have an '03 2500 and I'm looking for an E rated tire with an aggressive tread. On my '99 I always ran firestone steelx at's with good luck but they don't make them in a 17 inch. Any suggestions?

What's the rating on BFG Long Trail TAs? At one time they were an option on these trucks. A little more aggressive than Michelin ATX.

I don't think there's much out there in E-range with a very aggressive tread... try a search on tires in the 3rd gen forums.

BFG AT have a 50,000 mile warrenty and are D rated at like 3100+ pounds per tire, which is right up there with alot of the E rated tires. Sams club sells a 315/70/17 for $115 a tire and only about $9 per tire for mount, roadhazard, lifetime balance and rotation and valve stems.

BFG rugged trails are what come as the on/off road optional tire, I have 49,300 on mine and still about 25% or so tread left. I have been impressed by these so far, but will be going with the ATs, if they ever wear out.

BFG Long Trails are *I think* C rated and unless you don't really use your truck as a truck wouldn't really be recommended. Sams club down the street from me sells the 265s for $115 a tire

I have always liked the BF AT KO's but I have never ran them on a mighty Cummins. I was curious on how long they would last. I have the rugged trails on my '03 now but I am not impressed with their performance in the snow.

Yes, the BFGoodrich Rugged Trail T/A's S-U-C-K . I'm holding out for Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO's..... our Bridgestone rep is hoping some will be available soon in LT265/70R17 "E" and LT285/70R17 "D" rating. Had the LT285/75R16 Dueler A/T REVO's on my 2000 RAM 2500 for 6,000 miles and loved them.

I too have the Rugged Trails now. They go fine in the snow (drove about 30 miles in 12-20 inch deep the other day), but don't stop in it worth a darn.

I had the BFG AT's on my 95 truck and they wore well and were great in snow. Unfortunately that truck bit the dust (and a Dodge Neon) last spring. And the 16" tires would not work on the new truck.

Anyway, I'll get the 315s before next winter. I wish they'd start making some 75 series tires in 17" - something taller without adding width. I don't understand why they only make these in the 70s series.
