What is a 02 SKYLINE CENTURY worth?

Firestone Ride Rite Air system

I am lookig for someone to haul new (empty) cargo trailers from Haulmark in Penn. and from factories in Indiana and Michigan, to New Hampshire. And occasionally customer deliveries.

I need someone with a good driving record, careful and curtious driving style, responsablity and accountablility a MUST.

You would have to have a dually with a 2 5/16" tag hitch, and a gooseneck hitch to pull my 48' hauler, which would be used to load 2 to 4 smaller trailers. The total weight of this trailer loaded is around 15,000# or less. A current medical card is a must, you will have to run a log book as well, no CDL is required, you run my numbers (magnetic signs on doors) and use YOUR own insurance.

Basic pay on tags would be . 80 per loaded mile for single trailers (works out to $390. 00 from PA, and $800. 00 from MI), I will pay for all tolls on the loaded trip.

Basic pay pulling my 48' hauler would be $1. 20 per loaded mile (works out to $575. 00 from PA, and $1200. 00 from MI)

Backhauls are rare, but those can be negotionalbe when available, if you find cars/trailers/boats to haul on my trailer, that is negotionable as well.

You would be responsable for all repairs on the road and any damage done to any units, I will pay fines for violations on my trailer, but YOU pay for truck and driving fines.

Well, I spelled out as much as I could here, contact me for more info, please be serious.

Peak times are May, June and July.

I have too many things going to do this by myself anymore.

You could also make commision selling the trailers for me (negotionable as well) I am looking for a sub contractor, make sure you understand that! If you live in New England, it would make it easier.

Brian, thanks for the quick response... .

I am planning ahead here, things are dead right now, but will pickup faster than I can handle in the early spring, plus whatever custom orders I have from now til then.

Since you are in IN, you would be good to haul single units from Michigan... . since you would just have to drive out here and then back. I don't get a lot of them though, usually not worth it for me, unless I need it in a hurry, or it is a real big tag (28' or bigger). But that does happen once in a while.

I am looking for someone around New England to haul my 48' transport trailer, so that it would be close by if I need it, plus I can keep track of it until I get to know whoever is using it (no offense intended). I do buy and sell at the car auctions once in a while, so I would need it occasionally.

So, what happened to Quality? You quit with them?

I don't do any campers, just cargo trailers from:

Haulmark, McAdoo Penn.

United, White Pigeon Mich.

Interstate, White Pigeon Mich.

Cargo Mate, Elkhart, Ind.

So they are lighter and easier to haul than campers.

Still with Quality. Great company. I could haul Quality out to NH, I must've went to Nashua a hundred times last year, and backhaul your stuff. Quality ALWAYS has an outbound load, we could make some money off them with your 48 footer.

I have a CDL A and ALL the hitches, Dot med card, the works. Twin turbo 2001 HO.

I don't blame you for wanting to keep track of that rig, sounds nice. :D

Brian

Maybe I confused you here... ... I need to move units FROM the mid west TO New Hampshire. I rarely have anything going back out west.

We probably have past each other on I-90 at some point, I was running a Bering cabover (cummins ISB) with a 16'bed, towing a 48'wedge, hard to miss.

I am hoping to find someone who has some spare time now and again, like I said, I don't have enough for full time right now, unless I had someone who was abitious and wanted to haul cars, and whatever else all over the country, but I have not had luck with that in the past. Thats why I would like someone local, then they could haul from the car auctions to dealers, there are 3 major car auctions per week within 100 miles of me.

But nothing is set in stone.

Lee

Lee - I might be interested in doing some of your local hauling. I am considering trading my W-250 for a D-350 with all three hitches. I'd be available for the end of May, all of June and July, and into August. I'll have to look into the medical card - what's involved with that? I've wrenched for a local trucking company in Windsor, VT for a while now, so the trucking industry isn't totally new to me.

Thanks for any info. you can shoot my way,

Scott

Re: Medical Certificate

Physical requirements for interstate drivers:

20/40 Vision, minimum 70 degree peripheral vision in each eye.

Distinguish red and green.

Hear forced whisper at 5 feet.

Able to handle physical loading/unloading requirements of job.

No loss of limb or disease that limits mobility.

No chronic illness such as diabetes, heart disease, alcholism.

Retest every two years.

Drug test with physical or at anytime as demanded by carrier or DOT.

Carrier usually provides papers maybe doctor. After physical, doctor signs off papers and medical card which must be carried while driving.

You can pickup a medical card at any big truckstop, just bring the form and the card to your doctor, or any walk in clinic and tell them you need to get a physical and you need them to fill out and sign the card. Its no big deal... . heart rate, relex, a couple questions, **** in a cup, hand down your pants and thats it... . about 15 mninutes.

I don't require a drug test, but if you use drugs, don't bother... . If I find out you use drugs afterwards, you'll be sorry you bothered.

No rocket science hear, just need to be able to handle a trailer, at the most, know how to load/unload and tie down smaller units so they dont get damaged.

I am only a small company, just me and one employee, but I loose too many trailer sales not being here, so I need a driver, at least a part timer for now.

So, having said that... . It was only a few years ago I was running a W250 myself, I think my neck still hurts from that buckboard riding truck!

Actually, the LESS you know about the trucking industry, the better off you are! All you need to know is how to keep a log book LOOKING good, have your medical card on hand and make sure all your lights work, everything is secured, brake away works, and don't be a wise ass if you get stopped in a weigh

station. And of coarse keep your height under 13',6"!! (roof vents will get ya once in a while). Keep that in mind, and you have little to worry about, unless the DOT inspector doesnt like your looks, then they will go through you front to rear, inside and out.

Thats with the big trailer, hauling single units, theres little to worry about.

Scott, Windsor is over near Claremont NH up rte 5 right?... . thats about 1. 5 hours from me, not too bad.

Yeah, Windsor is actually across the river from Cornish, but Claremont is a 10 min. dirve to the south. Anyway, I actually live in North Hartland, about 10 min. north of Windsor. I guess to get to Ossipee, I'd go down either rt. 4 or I-89, right?

So do you think a 250 would handle this sort of stuff. The only difference between my truck and a 350 is the dual wheels. I have a bunch of extra springs in back, so it's basically a SRW 350. The guy I bought it from hauled a 15k gooseneck to PA every other week for 8 years, and he said it handled very well. He actually bought a '99 or '00 2500 CTD after he sold this one to my parents 2 years ago, and he still hauls that trailer every other week.

Again, I don't know how much OTR driving I want to do right now, but I'd be open to some of the closer in driving. I'll let you know what I can do in about 4 months  PM me with some details and maybe I could stop by your place right after the holidays so we can talk about this some more.

Unfortunately, I already know too much about trucking. It doesn't bother me too much yet. I guess I understand that that's how it is, and there is no changing it. ;)

Scott

Sorry guys... . I have been straight out here, thanks for all the PM's sent to me, I will get back to you as soon as I can!

Lee
