INVOICE

If a dealer does not show you the original invoice on a truck I would not buy it from them. My situation is a little different due to the fact that I come from a Dodge employee family. They must show me the invoice to be able to see what the EP (Employee Price) is printed on the invoice.

Hey, holeshotholset I didn't notice you were in madison.

I'm about 4 hrs away. I got my 03 from Chrysler world in abrams WI. About an hour and a half drive for me (so about 2 1/2 for you). They gave me invoice right after I asked (printed me a copy) and all the rebates available, and matched another dealers quote on my trade in after some bickering, and even let me buy some parts at cost.

Only complaint I have is about the jerkoff closing guy who tried to tell me I couldn't work on my truck cause I wasn't certified so I should buy the extended warranty.

Things you will see on a REAL invoice

On a real invoice you should see the following items:

DaimlerChrysler Owner Loyalty Mail - $20

8 Additional Gallons of Diesel (maybe)

Whatever RegionDAA PAA /Pension $200+, depends on the "zone" the dealer is in.

Whatever Region DAA $200+, depends on the "zone" the dealer is in.

After the destination charge, a line

HBXXXXXX - this represents the holdback on the vehicle

HB126900 means the dealer got $1269. 00 from DC just for having the truck on the lot.

As mentioned earlier, the dealer does not get the holdback if he gets the truck as a dealer trade, only the original dealer gets the holdback - and dealers rarely, if ever, give up holdback in a trade. Another game they play is the "cheap trade" - your dealer wants to get the $41k Ram, and the other dealer asks for a $25k minivan in trade. Each dealer pays invoice and keeps the holdback. That is one reason dealers don't like to trade.

A line that says EP xxxxx

That's the DC employee price

Real invoices look like they were printed on an old 9-pin dot matrix printer.

Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.

You would not believe the amount of people that walk in and only want to know "How much will my payments be" . A dealership loves those kind of people, they hate people like me that give them trouble.

heheheh. Guilty as charged! I've done that several times now, when I was younger I should say. Talk about buyer's remorse afterward. Ouch. This time, I did a lot better. It seems like a fair deal for all. :D

Wow! Again, I'm overwhelmed with the unbelievable willingness to help out from my fellow TDR members.

Things are actually starting to make sense, thanks to you folks.

I'm taking all of these suggestions into consideration and it's all very good advice.

Seems like folks in WI make good car dealers... I've heard lots of good things about some of the dealers in this state.

This thread has been VERY valuable to me (and anyone else who's looking to buy a new truck... ), thanks to everyone for contributing!
