My first post. I'm looking for a good, knowledgeable, honest, reasonable price repair shop for my CTD. Not that I need some work done right now, but this list of shops will be good to have when I do need a mechanic. I'm handy and can do some of the maint items, but not all. I'm willing to travel 50 miles and hopefully, the shop has Saturday hours.

Looking through all the service records, with 92k miles, it looks like the transmission service is due. I do not haul nor tow anything. I like the CTD vs. a gasser. The transmission service would be - complete fluid flush, change the filter, and adjust the upper and lower bands as needed.

I would appreciate any recommendations or "stay away from".

There is a Cummins shop in San Leandro 94577 (25 miles).

Welcome to TDR!!

I just had the guys at TriValley Performance in Dublin, CA do my 30k service, as well as install a GDP intake horn and run some dynos on my truck.

TOP NOTCH service (both mechanical and customer). They are truck enthusiasts who understand the relationship most of us have with our CTDs.

I was at their shop for 4 hours, most of the time I spent watching, talking and literally handing them tools. VERY cool!! Also, almost half the price of the dealership 30k service, yet they were meticulous, orderly and thorough. I will not hesitate to have them work on any aspect of my truck. and NO I am not related to them in anyway financially (well they did take my money:-laf) or otherwise.

Call Eric at

Well even closer to you is WIN speed in Martinez. Brett and adam have been the only show in town for a while. Adam's been doing it for 15 years.

they are at 880 Howe rd suite G 925-370-7245

WINspeed, 880 Howe rd. martinez, CA 370-7245

Brett and Adam are both very good guys and very reasonable. Adam has a 900+HP 24 V and Brett has a 700+HP 12 Valve.

Brett is real good with the trannys.

Stan,

I recommend that your include your truck year, upgrades, in your sig.

This will get you responses from those who know your truck.

Unfortunately, at the time, I was hearing a humming(?) noise coming from the engine (when the engine was cold and it would con't until the engine was warm) and since the truck is covered by the CTD 100k warranty, I ended going to the Concord dealership for (hopefully) a warranty repair. While I was there, they talked me into the "transmission chg filter & 1/2 fluid" and rear diff fluid chg services. Darn it was not the best for $$ but it was too convenient. But future normal service items I will go to one of the 2 shops mentioned. Or if I decide to try those changes myself and use non-Mopar synthetic fluids. I have to say that I did notice a smoother AT shift after the change - I did not find a receipt for a transmission service from the orig owner (91k mi).

The humming noise (per the dealer) said it was normal for the fan motor (he mentioned a diff name which begins with a "V") to make that noise at cold start up. We'll see, but the next time I go to TVP or WS, I'll ask about that noise.

Again, thank you all for the recommendations.
