Hey guys,

Kilby enterprises is looking to refine our on board air bracket for the 2nd gen 1998. 5-2002 CTD's. We would need the truck dropped off and left at the shop for a couple of days. The shop is located in Burbank, Ca (so cal, just north of LA). Also, if the truck had A/C, that would be an added bonus, as we could design and build an A/C condensor guard cover for the second Gen's as well. If you are interested in allowing us to use your truck for development puposes, either send me a PM on this board, an email at -- email address removed -- or give me a call at the shop, 818-565-5945.

Thanks,

Scott

Line X the bed and Guages.

Wouldn't LineX-ing the gauges screw 'em up? :-laf

By the way... am I the only person on earth who knows how to spell 'gauge'?

I'd be happy with a discount... ... My Dad lives up in Ventura, so I'm trying to figure out how to swing this. If you don't get any bites, PM me and I'll try and work it out. I have to have the truck for next weekend for sure, but I might be able to give it up after that.

Refine the bracket? Sheesh, the one I got from you guys a few years ago is beefy enough to double as a trailer hitch. I gotta say, the onboard air set up is the best mod I have made so far. Those York compressors take a beating and never gripe about it.

The Kilby onboard air set up is a very high quality design. The brakets are tough, finish quality is top notch, and the unit is relatively maintanance free. Every month or so I drain the coaalessing filter and return the oil back into the compressor. That's it. It's going on three years that the system has been in the truck, not a hiccup.

OK, unsoliceted plug is over.

Jeff, Thank you for the compliments. There are just a few things we would like to do to the bracket for a redesign. :) As far as what you are getting in return, that part I am not sure about yet. If I find out anything about that, I will be sure to let you know.

You've got mail

I just sent you an e-mail with my contact information. Please reply to my office and copy my personal e-mail address. I also included my cell phone number. I'm approximately 20 miles from Burbank and own a 98. 5 CTD Ram.

luciano, I got your email. I am going to have to talk to the boss when he gets in about the things you asked. I will email you when I find out what he wants to do.

I'll give some details on the set up that i have from Kilby, and the way I have it set up. The compressor and braket sit above the alt. the alt has a custom pulley with a v-belt groove (one solid pulley). It really looks like a stock set up. I have the outlet plumbed with 3/8 high temp flex hose (1200 deg hose), feeding into the coalescing filter (kilby). The filter is mounted on the pass battery brraket for easy draining. From there the air travels counter clockwise around the battery, between the batery and fender, through a one way check valve , then in front of the battery through the pressure switch. the pressure switch sits at battry top level, between the battery and headlight. There is a 1/4 inch line from the unloader, to a "T" pre-check valve. This unloads the compressor of air while isolating the rest of the system. From the pressure switch, the air travels down teh frame rail, to 2-2. 5 gallon tanks. One is moundted on the frame rail, by the rear spring perch. the other tank is mounted on the undersied of the bed. Both tanks are mounted on 316 ss unistrut. The tanks are fed normally in series, but I have a valve that can be switched so they can be put into parallel for added air needs. From the tanks, The air runs forward to a 316 ss 8 port distribution block. The block holds the pop off valve. The block routes air to the rear of the truck. There is one drop going up through the bed to just under the tool box wing. The other continues to the rear by the license plate. There is a drop going forward that attatches to the cowl just outboard of the BHAF. There is also a line that feeds a 1 gallon pancake tank with an isolator. This tank feels the air horns. All of the lines that connect the ports, tanks, blocks and valves are 316 ss hard lined. Swagelok 316 ss fitting are used at all locations.

That is how I have my system plumbed. Oh yeah, I have a few gauges plumbed in also.

I tried this same thing about 2 years ago for the 94-97's but no one could do it.

Straight6Jeff,

What year is your truck. Would love to see your setup, detailed parts breakdown and installation drawings. I want decent air on my truck so bad I can taste it. If your amiable to this PM me please.

What is the point of doing this. I'm in glendale, CAlif and would be willing. It early in the morning, so im tired but whats the point of this setup?

EBottoma,

Are you asking what the point of on board air is? It can be used for a lot of different things, air horns, air bags, airign up tires... you name it. Engine driven on board air that we specialize in is a lot more effecient and less time consuming than your standard 12 v electric compressor. If you don't feel you'll need it, then there wouldn't be a point in your bringing your truck to us. The compensation for letting us use the truck will be the bracket to mount the york compressor to the motor for on board air ($150. 00 value) You would of course need to buy the rest of the stuff for on board air, but $150. 00 worth of free product is a start.

If I had access to a digital camera, I will take pictures.

I have used my compressor to change tires (IR 2131 gun), air chisel to break up concrete, air nibbler to cut open a car door after a crash (driver trapped), cut off wheel to cut wire cable wrapped around a cow (interesting day), blow gun to dust off engine, inflate tires, balls (not mine), evacuate lawn sprinkler systems, Air nailer to repair wooden fence.

Besides the normal air horns and tires, the uses for the system are plentiful I find myself looking for situations to use the setup. Oo.

Scott,

How is the new bracket going to be different from the old one? I bought the setup from you over a year ago (can't believe it has been so long). I have had to modify the bracket to fit my truck with an AFE filter setup. I am still planing to write an article from the TDR about the installation. I have just become so busy at work (Contractor), I have had to put it on the back burner. I am just about to get the bracket powder painted. I now have all the parts including a 5 gallon main tank and a 1. 5 gallon tank for air horns. I plan to use the compressor for construction work too.
