Looking for a rather large box, to sit behind the cab in the bed, but I don't want it to extend above the bed rails. Most of the ones I've seen don't look like they would take advantage of all the space (either width or depth between the wheel wells and front of the bed).

Any suggestions on some good ones?

Campin out on I-15 and Cheyenne (across from Flying J) has alot. Don't know where they get them from. Might give them a call and see if they can customize one to fit and utilize all the space.

I use a WeatherGuard 5th wheel (below the rails) box and am extremely satisfied with it. It may not be as large as what you want, however.

I've had a couple weather gaurds, they have some of the biggest boxes I could find. I current have a deezee but it's a 100gal fuel/tool box combo and the box is only about ten inches deep now (had to modify it to pull the 5er). big enough to hold the dewalt combo kit and emergency stuff, but works for me.

I have the BetterBuilt brand aluminum box, I got it from Camping World about 6 years ago. Mine sits directly on the bed floor, not on the rails, and there is about 4" gap between the sidewalls of the bed and each side of the box. it is just as tall as the bed rails, and I think 20 - 24" deep? I really like it!

I just checked the DAWS Better Built web site for a picture, and the only way to get pictures, is to download their product catalog in PDF format, so I can't post a pic... but it's listed in their catalog as the "Recreational Box - 5th wheel, slant lid" model.

Highway products makes the one I have and it's huge and well built. They are made from heavy diamond plate aluminum and strong enough you can stand on the cover.

They are made in southern Oregon(Medford ?) and are kinda spendy but worth it.

Protech makes an awsome box. Look in my vehicle gallery under truck #1. It sets just below the rails They make versions for the Dodge one is deeper than the other.

Check out http://www.trucktrunk.com/. It sits on the Bed rails and you can still put a sheet of plywood into the bed, as it leaves about 4 inchyes under it. Comes in several different front to back sizes. I have the SE Series with the sliding lid. Great for 5th wheels. I have had mine for 10 plus years and two trucks. Great box. SNOKING

Check your Lowe's Home Improvement store. This may sound wierd to some but you can purchase a wide selection of Better Built branded aluminum truck boxes from Lowe's at attractive prices.

I noticed some plastic laminated pictures of various truck boxes attached to a post in the hardware aisle of my local Lowe's a couple years ago. When I inquired the part-time employee in the hardware section was uninformed but reluctantly looked at their offerings in the in-store computer. They offer a full line but usually don't carry them in their stores. I special ordered an excellent V-notched fifth wheel box. The Lowe's price was $274. The identical box at Camping World is about $450 and more at truck outfitter stores. I think you can review all the choices on Lowe's website or visit their stores and get someone in the hardware aisle to look on their computer.

I actually ordered and paid for my truck box at home in TX but had it delivered to the store in Goshen, IN because I was leaving home to attend indoctrination with Horizon Transport a week later and didn't have time for the box to be delivered. I picked up the box exactly as they promised in Goshen and took it to Camping World in Elkhart (January in IN) While having a full-width mud flap installed at CW I asked the tech to install the box. He graciously installed it at no charge assuming it had been purchased at Camping World (exactly the same box as sold in his store).

I've got one I might want to sell, but it would be a long way from you. This is an aluminum box. It goes from the front of the bed to just a few inches from the wheel well on an 8ft bed. If you put it on the floor of the bed it sits an inch or two below the rails, but it sweats inside real bad. I put 3 1" square tubing blocks under it and no more sweating, and the top of the lid sat almost even with the top of the bed rails. I packed 4 peoples luggage (2 women), 3 sleeping bags, 4 big coats, and a craftsman tool box in it when we went to CO for a trip last year. I don't remember what brand it is as I bought it off a friend, but it is sturdy.

I have a RKI brand toold box it is pretty big and sits below the bed rails. I have had it for around 6 years and no problems.
