Bob, just another thing to think about. You might want to BOMB your fuel pickup, considering the power levels you are running. I took a close look at mwheaton's fuel pickup when he had his tank out for an Espar installation. The tube looked to be about the same ID as the stock fuel lines going to the engine. Also, Ted Jannetty commented the pre 2000 ones are not as good as the newer ones. I would contact him and see what he thinks. I think he has a better pickup that is less restrictive but I'm not sure. I am fixing to upgrade my system and I may install a larger pickup as well.

If I remember right HVAC added a larger fuel pickup to his tank.

About your installation, I remember it was around the 4th of July when you were mentioning installing your fuel system. You remember we stopped by not long before you went at it, I think it was June 23/24 weekend (the time you were trying to get some power out of that old Chevy pickup, and I bought your downpipe :) )

Vaughn,

You are right, I actually think the exact day was July 7th, that was a Saturday.

I'll have to check out the pickup tube, I also read Ted's post and it got me thinking about it.

The OE fuel line pickup tube has the same ID as the steel supply line along the frame.

Unless Ted Jannetty changed the design, the JRE 1/2" fuel line kit uses Aeroquip -08 AN PushLoc hose for the supply and pickup. Additionally, there is no screen or sediment filter on the end of the tank pickup.

I'm using the Mallory as the sole provider. It's running wide open at 40 psi, using the overflow valve as its regulator. seven months and 12,000 miles so far on this setup. The 12 valve is a different beast with different appetite for fueling, but the pump, when properly installed and maintained, will last for a good long life.

Scott..... one other thing I forgot to email you..... air tanks lose pressure over time..... they just can't seal and stay sealed for lengths of time, especially in the cold..... yet another reason to incorporate an onboard compressor.
