I do not know if this is the right forum to post this in, I am new here, but I seen an extended cab shortbed cummins diesel dodge, I think it was gray at Bristol, TN dragstrip last year. I am pretty sure they said he was from Muncie,IN. He came in 1st or 2nd place. Is he a member on this site? I was wondering if there were any pics here if he was. That truck was awesome. I used to drag race a 66 Nova at Muncie. I am only about 2 hours north of there. Thanks

You're looking for Stack'd-n-Jack'd - one of my best friends - and yes he is a member here. I was at that race too, Eric (Stack'd) knocked me out in the first round - we were . 003 apart!

Wasn't he running 12 second quarters or something like that? I seen him run against a little scale truck and I could not remember wheter he won or not. I just registered here and have been looking for an older 12 valve cummins to play with. I just got rid of my 1997 ford powerstroke. Thanks for the response. I do not no many people in my area that play around with diesel trucks.

Bristol TN is about 20 minutes from me,are you guys coming back this year?I hope so,sure would like to meet some people that are interested in bombing ctd's, most people around here have powerjokes or hotrod gassers.

I'm coming back but have not heard for sure what the date was yet. I am hoping to have another truck by then. We were looking to move down there by this time but have not quite made it that far.

Bristol did not treat us well to put it mildly. I for one wouldn't go back there if they paid me based on our reception last year. Long story . . . . .

Steve, I know what you mean if your talking about the staff at bristol. A friend of mine has a blown alchol funnycar,we used to go to bristol on a regular basis until they switched from IHRA to NHRA then they became very aragent, complete a--holes,so we and alot of other racers stoped going to bristol and started going to other tracks. Rumor has it that recently they have realized what their attitude has done for buisness and have started treating people better,I hope they have, and I hope that you and others that may have been treated badly will reconsider coming back,Id like to meet some of ya. unfortunatly my schedule dosent allow me to travel to distant events,I travel alot but Im always in a hurry.

ZZZZZZZZZZZ,

johnls, hey bud, that was me at Bristol. I was running a manual that day. I have switched to an automatic. Sorry for the delay in getting back with you, been busy. I will not race at Bristol ever again. I won 1st place and I won the "biggest, baddest" grudge match at the end of the night. I received 4% of the purse they promised me.

We are having a big diesel rally June 8th and 9th here in Muncie, come see us! Click here

Click on the DieselSport Promotions button on the bottom of the page to email me. Keep in touch.

Stacked n Jacked,

How is you auto holding up? I have had a hard time locating a manual truck, but would rather have the auto if I new it would hold up to the power of bombing. Obviously it does work in your truck but what kind of money do I have to invest in the auto to make it tough enough? I found a 1994 automatic for a reasonable price. Thanks for the response. I will try to make it to Muncie, I am only a couple hours north of there. We used to race at Avilla, IN on Fridays and Muncie on Saturdays. What kind of times are you running with it now?

Yes, there are some great products for the auto out there. That typically doesn't bring well suited conversation on this site unfortunately.

I was running 13. 80's with a 5 speed, we put the auto in and I have about 7- 12. 9X runs on her now. I will be at the track, weather permitting with some new toys next Wednesday.

Let's get together sometime and you can take a ride, the lock up in this thing is incredible! Click on the Black Mountain Diesel link in my signature to check out the product.

Did you put the whole trans in or just there converter? I could not find a price on anything. I would look for an auto truck if I could figure out what kind of money I would have to put into the trans to keep it from burning up. Do you guys ever race at Milan, MI or Norwalk, OH?

Long story... .

search the archives in the product section called TripleLok Equipped.

Anyway, no we do have a race in August at Quaker City Raceway

You get what you pay for as with anything.

You could find a cheap torque converter and shift kit anywhere from $500 to $1500.

Expect to pay $3-$3500 for a pretty good automatic. One that will work fine for 95% of the buying public and performance crowd. This includes a few added clutches, better frictions, pistons, band strut, etc.

But as we push the limits harder and harder, obviously more stuff needs replacing.

Another $500-$1000 will get you some much better internal parts.

(cryo treatment, new shafts, etc)

If you have the money and want the best in performance and durability, you could spend up to $6500-$7500.

Top of the line racing trannies have hours of time in the machine shop replacing thrust washers with thrust bearings and improving lube passages and many other tricks. The diesel transmission industry hasn't gotten to that point quite yet (a few have), but is quickly approaching. I'm scared to find out how much these will cost.
