looking to buy 04.5 any input?

I have 91 w250 looking at 04. 5 3500 drw for towing trailer. they have $ 4000. 00 rebate on truck. Or should I get 05. is it that much better? Thanks, Jim

The 05's only have 1000 rebate if I recall correctly. For that extra 3 grand you can get in rebates on the 04. 5, thats the way Id go, but I LOVE my 04. 5, so I may be biased

I had to order an '05 because the selection of '04. 5's back in August could not come up with the combo we wanted and that was after a nationwide search. Would have loved to get the higher rebate, but... . if you order, you get exactly what you want.

If you found an 04. 5 in an acceptable configuration, absolutely go for it.

I had to order an '05 to get close enough to what I wanted.



For all practical purposes, an '05 is really the same as an '04. 5. But do check the engine serial number for the mileage/white smoke TSB.

If you can find an 04. 5 equiped the way you want that would be a good choice. Although the 05 has a few modifications they are probably not worth $3000. The only other consideration which is only relevant if you trade frequently, is value at selling time. I had considered waiting for an 05 in case there were bugs to be worked out of the 600 engine, but so far no regrets.

I bought a 04. 5 3500 diesel, 4 door and like it except for the fuel mileage. My 96 go much better mileage. I was told the only difference was the tailgate emblem. There are probably something else but I don't know. You should be able to get the price reduced with the dealership wanting wanting the 04's gone. Nice ride.

Thanks for the input. wound up with a 05. the 04. 5 was sold by the time I got back to the dealer :{ ! but the 05 was the color I realy wanted and the dealer gave it to me a cost !! had everything the 04. 5 had ,but I got leather seats too!! Jim

Drive it on the highway before you sign. Take it up to 70. 3 grand is a nice lump of cash and the 05's cost more.
