Since Surfbeetle admitted he's not followed RAM trucks closely for a few years, he might be surprised to find that a 4th GEN 2500 has had a weight gain of close to 1,000 lbs (if not more) over any 2nd GEN. That, coupled with a 10,000 GVWR, may also leave him in a surprised state of available payload / cargo capacity. I'm not here to push 2500, 3500 SRW, or 3500 DRW.....I'm just here to share those facts as some have made a truck purchase without crunching all of the payload numbers first.

Surfbeetle......if you want a link to those numbers, I can round it up for ya.

My truck can be anywhere from 8400 to pushing 9k ready to tow depending on load. OP talked about a sub full of kids. They subtract from carrying capacity . Snoking

So it appears from what I see on sites like Truecar that there's not much of a cost difference between the 2500 and the 3500. I was only choosing the 2500 since that's what I currently have and didn't think that I needed more of a truck. But if the new trucks are heavier and I'd be closer to being over limit, then I'm probably better off with the 3500. I'm going to stop by my local dealer this week and see what they have.

Very well said, and without the gestapo police round up mentality to boot.
