Over a ten year period with my Alpenlite trailer with over 100,000 miles on it, I developed loose attached fenders on both sides through time. This is a 26' XL model fifth wheel. As the highways in California are very rough in places, the fender cap screws had worked loose in the last year. I was constantly tightening these annoying things. My remedy for this was to install new Self Drilling Neo Hex Drill Screws in a larger dia. and longer length to secure the fenders properly. The replacement size is 12-14 X 1 1/2 " for anyone interested in this procedure. In my opinion the screws were too short to begin with and unless they are purchased in Timbuktu or Madagascar, I was not able to find duplicates anywhere. While I had the fenders spread out from the sides of the trailer, I used my caulking gun and refilled the crevase to seal it again. The finished modification is much improved over the factory installation as one can really tighten these down.
