I took my truch in yesterday for the 2000RPM TSB and to check out why my truck shudders while leaving a stop...

And has a TERRIBLE miss while warming up at 1000 rpms

By the way, the TECH that did the repair is a good friend on mine, and he said that most of the new diesels he has looked at have a couple loose injectors minimum... as was with mine...

well now with the TSB done and the tightened injectors, the trucks drives SOOOO much better, no vibration, and launched so smooth, i can slip my coffee and not spill it...

really though, big difference, and runs smoother too, could be just me though

not sure how hard it was, but the factory paid 2 hours for the job... the exhuast rocker arm had to be moved to get to one of them i think... but the valve cover was off for sure...

There is only 2 bolts (10mm head).

10nm torque on each bolt.

Bolt orientation should be on equal levels.

High pressure connector retainers get torqued @50nm (24mm).

Hey Justin,,

How about putting a bit of extra torque on those activator wires... . I think 5-10 Ft/Lbs would be good. ? I think that'll be good for some HP,, because the tighter the connectors are, the faster the signal will get to the activator, and it will inject fuel sooner, affecting your timing. More timing equals more power, more power equals more fun, more fun equals,, buying more power later, LOL.

How do you tell if you have loose injectors... ... ..... do they leak..... or is it a just check and find out kind of thing.

My truck doesnt seem to stumble or miss so how would you know

i just told my service guy that i had a off-idle stumble and a slight knocking sound (like a diesel would not do that anyway) ... .

and I told him to check for loose injectors because of past trucks

Let me just comment that sometimes you can read problems on here that others are having and think "gee, I wonder if that's happening to me and I don't realize it". I know I do it sometimes. That kind of thinking can quickly drive you into the funny farm!

If you don't notice anything wrong, don't take it to the dealer and let them get into the fuel system, even to tighten the injectors. Don't worry, you're covered by the 100k mile engine warranty, so later if an injector explodes out the valve cover you won't have to pay for it. Remember, a wise man once said "don't fix it if it ain't broke". (Of course, if you're an engineer then your motto might be "if it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is!:) )

Funny Farm... ... ... ... I think I am there already:D... ... ... ... ... was washing my truck this AM 0530 and it was 14* just couldnt stand the salt look any more.

I try to stay away from the dealers as much as possible... ..... I have been pretty lucky with this truck only complaint is the driver side wind noise and it is driving me more INSANE:--)

If the injector leaks for a while, it can compromise the copper washer. A major problem with changing these injectors is from overtightening the wire nuts. The connection fails and you buy a new injector.
