Well I've been hearing what almost sounds like a lifter tap mainly under load and deffinatly more so when i have the smarty loaded. Some of you mentioned it sounded like a injector hold down was loose so when I took it in to the dealer I told them that and as normal they don't like us telling them anything. They couldn't find a thing wrong like normal. I also complaine about some white haze when towing and that it seemed like it was taking longer for the egts to come down at idle. I got it home and loaded the smarty back up and the rattle/ tap was back so I climbed up and started lookin and feeling everything to find out what was wrong. when I got to the #5 injector line I could feel that it had almost a vibration/knock that went right with the noise yet none of the other lines felt like that, they were all smooth and i guess normal. so what could it be a loose injector or a bad one?

I think it's hard to say, but it's more likely a bad injector than a loose one. I haven't heard of them coming loose very often.

Checking for tightness is a piece of cake - remove the valve cover and check torque on each of the hold downs. Gaskets are reusable.

well its going back to the dealer in the morning, they replaced all 6 injectors back in sept and I don't have a whole lot of faith in thier service tech. yes I could check to see if its lose but right now its about the dealer doing what it should be doing, but we all know hove that can go. .

Well got the call from the dealer, the #5 injector is bad but they wont fix it untill a rep from chrysler comes in to look at it. they said because I have the comander on it. I removed the mp-8 and the smarty so the only basis they have is that I have the comander for guages and that "you have the fuel pressure way up on it" they were looking at the adjustments in the comander that allow you to adjust the readings of the fuel pressure guage to match what they realy are. I explained that the comander by its self can not adjust a thing on the motor. so I guess we'll have to wait in see. they said that its an even bigger issue since they replaced all 6 injectors back in sept well before i ever added any power but had the comander in place. I kinda expect them to just say to bad you loose but I want them to actually pin point why not just say well you put guages on it.

Yeah good luck with that one... . My buddy dropped the infamous valve seat on his 03 555. . When he took it in I told him you better take that outlook moniter out and he said he wasnt worried about it. . Well they didnt warranty it cause they said that the moniter plugged into the factory harness... My 03 dropped a valve seat when it was out of warranty so I took care of it on my own... I hope they fix you up... I fix things better than the stealership any day... .

well we will see what happens, I've already been pricing out complete sets of injectors since in about 3 months i'll be out of warranty anyways. So if i have a spare set I can just swap out any bad ones and get them fixed with out having much down time. and as soon as they either say your flagged or I hit 100k a better fuel filter system is going in place.
