Ok, finally got a chance to drive my brothers truck. He thought the transmission has been goign out. However, I believe that its something else. The following are symptoms:
1. When truck is idling and under normal EASY driving the engine runs smooth and smoke free. However when you go to get on the interstate, the truck builds RPM up over 2k, and approx. 20lbs of boost. Then, the RPM's fall and boost pressure is lost, without you letting out of the throttle. When this occurs White smoke is coming out of the pipe like nothign else.
2. This happens when the cruise control is used, and the engine becomes loaded, like going up a hill.
3. The truck will downshift on the interstate when you are running 65-70, the truck will shift out of OD, and after you slow down it will "pick back up".
I have searched and read for hours. Some threads suggested the Water in fuel sensor. Others suggested, loose boost fitting, or clogged fuel filter/bad lift pump.
I am not much of a 12V person. Please give me some suggestions of things we can check.
Thank you in advance!!
