Loss of Power-1/2 tank of fuel

I've started having power issues after fuel falls below 1/2 tank. I mean serious issues, It starts cutting out and progressively gets worse. I can stop and fuel up and very soon after she's back to her usual self. I have 160k on the truck. My first response is to think it's the lift pump, but why would it only start after falling below 1/2 tank? Anybody with a good guess on where to go from here? Thanks guys. Truck is an O5' Standard. 2wd.

I don't KNOW this, but I would GUESS that you have a weak lift pump that is marginally adequate with a full tank, and inadequate as soon as the head pressure drops off. When mine goes, I'm replacing it with the GDP. Glacier Diesel Power - Product Detail

It could possibly be a hole in the pick up tube sucking air... ... ...

I don't know where to start first? Maybe dropping the tank and ruling that out first might be my best bet, before going for a new lift pump. With 160K on it I've kind of been waiting on it. Hey guys I really appreciate the advice. Any more. Feel free.
