My '95 has done the same thing on isolated occasions. I finally figured out it wouldn't do it with more than half a tank of fuel. I think what may be causing it is hot fuel weakening the overflow valve spring causing low fuel pressure from the lift pump. Mine would do it even on a winter day, but always on extended drives at 70+ usually going uphill when the fuel got below half. This has been a mystery problem for me for 6 years now, I went to several dealers while the truck was under warranty, none could find a problem. Lift pump and shutdown solenoid were replaced under warranty, still did it. I have posted here several times but have never got a decent answer. Thought I had it licked with a new overflow valve but it happened again 6 months later. All filters are clean and there are no leaks. My solution has been to keep the tank more than half full, it will never do it then. Whenever I try to make it do it it won't. If you figure it out let me know.
