2006 Dodge CTD Oil Change and Fuel Filter Questions

I had similar problems with my truck, an '06 3500. When running hard on long trips, Edge on level 2, I would put my foot into it to pass someone or run up a hill, only to lose power andd see black smoke rolling out the exhaust. The loss of power was like an injector was off time somehow. Slow down to about 2000 rpm, turn the edge to stock and the truck ran fine. I called the Edge people in Utah, they asked me to monitor backdown. I have and so far it has read 0% of no backdown. I do however see boost pressures according to the Edge monitor of 35 to 40psi when I'm in the pedal. EGT does climb to 1250 also. But I'm carefull not to push too hard. Is the boost pressure too high? I have changed fuel delivery to an Airdog ll. I also have an Airaide filter system and Banks High Ram intake elbow. These two pieces came with the truck. My exhuast is 4 inch out of turbo to a pair of stacks in my bed, so the flow of exhaust isn't restricted. Any thoughts?

I forgot, I check my oil frequently and so far no increases in the level. So I don't think an injector is leaking or dumping too much fuel into the cylinders.

I have'nt thought about the Edge box too much, I will be towing in about 2 weeks and will set the box on one. I also just put on a FASS lift pump this past week. I don't think the pump will have any effect on the power loss or EGT temps. But time will tell. What did you mean by monitor backdown, (put the box on another number , 1 or 3). I have'nt seen boost higher than 30.

The guy at Edge products described a built in safety factor in the Edge box. If the running parameters get too close to being dangerous for the engine, it defuels the engine, thus slowing it down to acceptable levels. To see backdown, go to the display section of your monitor, look for the backdown setting and set up your box to display it. My display is set for 4 parameters, EGT, boost, backdown, and engine load. I'm not so sure I buy this, but I am going to run the truck in a couple of weeks up ino the mountains, so we'll see what happens then. Worse come to worse, Edge comes out. I am almost convinced it is the Edge box that is going bad.
