A few weeks ago my check engine light came on and the truck had very little power also bucked on WOT. Took it to the dealer and of corse the light went out, but they said the light was low map sensor voltage and they would have to do a few tests to find out problem ( They wanted Big Bucks). The truck was running fine so I told them not to do any further tests and to reset the code. Well I did get them to replace the lift pump only 3 LBS pressure. Problem went away for 3 weeks then today engine light is back and very little engine power. Would the Map Sensor cause this condition or has any one out there had this problem Please help me out if you can Thanks in advance don :)

No doubt a malfunctioning MAP sensor could cause the problem. Unplug it, and check the pins for any type of bending, or stretching. Spray a little WD40 in the plug, and put it back together and see how it does.

Definately sounds like a bad conenction of some sort...

DStrong I had a problem with low power that started about a month ago, thought it was the lift pump so I changed it and took the truck for a drive and it ran great. Got back in the truck the next day and went to fill it with fuel and it would not get over 70mph on the inerstate. Thought something was wrong as far as leeking fuel line or air in th line but checked all of that and everything was fine. Ended up taking the truck to Cummins Cumberland and had them look at it and it was the boost sensor. It did not give a check engine light but did register two engine codes low boost presure and faulty boost/map sensor. They replaced it an recalibrated the sensor and it runs fine. It is also covered under warranty.

Hope this helps.

Thanks again for the help. today I cleaned the connections to the MAP sensor and then went for a ride, I still had no power and the engine light stayed on for a while, then the Light went out and the truck runs fine. I am not sure that cleaning the connectors worked or if I should change the sensor, I sure would hate to have the no power problem when a powestroke is along side of me.
