Hello All... .

I haven't been around much... . The "Old Gurl" has been doing fine! 340,000+ miles approx... . (Multiple Speed sending units & oversized tires). :D

Now I have an issue... . Need help from the TDR Knowledge Base!

My truck lossed it's forward & reverse motion last night onthe way home from work! Rounding a Right turn on a green light at 30 MPH... . I heard to "Thunk" fromthe Bellhousing Area and began to Coast. I initially thought I had knocked it out of gear somehow, reached over an put it into 2nd and let the clutch out... . Still coasting. No Mechanical Noise from the Trans, it just sits there like it's idling in neutral. No Forward or Reverse Gears in 4x4 or 4x2.

My initial thoughts are blown Clutch Disc (I think this would make noise) or snapped Input Shaft. (no Leaks or dangling driveshafts :) )

The clutch is a SBC and the transmission is the upgraded NVG4500HD done back in 2001.

What does the brotherhood think? Any thoughts or advice?

Good to be back... .

The sleeve that connects transmission output to tranfercase input shaft is a possibility. Mine gave some warning before it went completely out, but I couldn't diagnose early enough. It sounded like a clunk in clutch area. My sleeve ran dry and the spline on transfercase end finaly stripped. I plan to grease them well when apart . It is costly when it go's.

It's the Clutch Disk

Thanks for the reply Wjune.

I torn my truck down to the flywheel tonight and found a shattered Valeo Clutch Disk from the 12 1/4" SBC Kit I put in my truck back in 2001. The dampening springs had worn thru the extended rivets that hold the halves together on the disk. I'm not sure this is all that common, I plan to send some Pics to SBC for an explaination.

Regardless... . $375 for a new clutch is a great deal over the cost of NVG Transmission Replacement.

KEENO is a happy man! :D

Thanks... .

You may want to read some of my posts... Put the stock 13" Sach's clutch back in it..... SBC has plenty of them

MU 0090 Rally

Hey Gang...

I ordered a SBC MU 0090 Rally Clutch Kit to put back in my truck. I don't tow much and probably put out 270 HP / 550 ft. /lbs torque. After looking at the failure... . You boys got me thinking 13"!

Note: My Ex-girlfriend has put the SBC MU 0090 Rally in her truck and sez he likes it and has no performance issues with the clutch.

WHY 13" SBC again???

Do Tell!~
