2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Loss of WTS light...Bulb replacement??

My grid heater light (WTS) is not working now. I'd like to do this repair as simply as possible. If the bulbs are not bad I can move to other areas. (I know it doesn't have anything to do with heaters functionality) I have been having issues with my grid heaters lately. They would cycle while driving and do odd cyclic things when idling. I did the gauge/lite test (held the trip reset and turned the key on) and no 4WD light and no WTS. I will do the bulb replacement but need some input on instrument cluster disassembly.



If the WTS light is actuated through the ECM then I may have other concerns. If this is so I will put my stock ECM back in to check for function.

usually the WTS light is also a check that the computer is functioning correctly.

Wow, a post from the past.

LXLAW, I have a Catcher ECM that I bought back before Smarty.

The problem was with the ECM and starting before the WTS light had gone out. The simple fix is to briefly disconnect the negitive terminals and I was good to go.

Well I found the answer but not on here, but now that I found it I will share the part number on TDR, so any other members can know what part number to get. I will try to get the part today to confirm it is the right one. But this is the part # 05015732AA from Dodge.

I lost my 4wd light... . The FSM said they are all LED and can not be replaced. I need to look into the switch on the axle. The wait light is may also be an LED.

The 2001 Factory Service Manual does indeed state that the Wait to Start indicator is illuminated by an LED. That is contradicted by the drawing on page 8W-40-2. My guess is that it is a PC194 bulb: http://www.ryderfleetproducts.com/cgi-bin/ryderfp/products/srm/oid/45593/erm/product_detail. jsp.

The 4WD indicator is an LED.

Ok, is this the bulb that illuminates the switch or the one that illuminates the fog lamp indicator (it's only on when the knob is pulled out and the low beams are on, it's a much smaller bulb and it has a green cover on it)? I need to replace the bulb and socket that illuminates the switch (switch with cargo lamp and fog lamps).

Just replaced both bulbs. 05015731AA is the lamp that lights up the fog lamp icon on the switch on trucks with fog lamps. 05015732AA is the lamp that lights up the rest of the switch. The second one was bad on my truck for about 3 years now. All I could ever get from the parts men at the dealerships was that I would have to replace the whole switch at a cost of around $70 - $90. Even the factory shop manual doesn't say that the bulbs can be replaced. Only that the whole switch module cannot be serviced but should be replaced.
