My buddies 07 mega cab lost its speedo and 4wd plus when he starts it up the engine light flashes 9 times. Any ideas?

Wow, the CEL flashing is a new one on me.

I don't really see where the loss of the speedometer and the loss of 4wd are directly related.

Speedometer loss could be the rear wheel speed sensor gone bad, or possibly a problem with the gauge itself.

Lost 4wd - what do you mean? It won't engage? Is it electric or manual shift?

Ryan

If it were me, I'd start by diagnosing the 4wd shift motor. Pull the connectors and see if it's being signaled to engage when the knob is actuated.

Is the "Service 4x4" light on? If not, then the truck thinks 4wd is working. Does the 4x4 indicator light come on?

Are you certain the truck is not engaging 4wd? Does the odometer display work?

Ryan

we will check, the odometer out not sure, yes we are sure no 4 wd as it is very snowy and truck does not go very well. One other note is this truck is heavly modded with with stacked boxes, twin turbos, stacks, you name it so It could have something to do with all the power upgrades also. Thanks for the advise, we will also try and check 4wd motor.

check your fuse box the same fuse controls the 4x4 switch and the speedo but on my truck the abs light and brake light were on.

Well we pulled all the fuses and all are good, and the abs and break lite do come on when he applies the brakes. Is there somewhere else some fuses could be located besides in the main fuse box?

my fuse was good it just had a loose connection. I have a friend with a 06 that his truck would not start, it was in the shop for over 2 weeks they changed everything and nothing fixed it. So just for the heck of it they started wiggling fuses to see if they were tight turns out that was the problem all along on his to.

Speedo

A lot of time when you test the fuses even with a volt meter they will test good. They can actually be broken, not blown but broken. The best way is to switch it out with another good fuse. We see this quite a bit.
