Lost 5th Gear Nut...Stealer No Help

Well, the dreaded moment I have been waiting for happened this week. The 5th gear nut backed off when I was on my way home from a wake. I called the stealer to see if they would work with me being this has been such a notorious problem and they immediately sided with DC, saying it has been from deliberately overheating the transmission from towing! Give me a break! I have babied this truck from day 1 and always maintained 2000 rpm or higher in 5th. I have only towed my 25' travel trailer that weighs 4500# dry. The truck is bone stock except gauges and 4" exhaust.



To make a long story short, I ordered the kit from Standard Transmission and having a local transmission shop fix it. Thanks for listening to me vent! By the way, the mileage is 96400.

I've installed a couple of the 5th gear nut upgrades, and its a good thing to do even if you STILL have 5th gear. Preventative maintenace is a good thing... 4th gear bites for long highway trips!

So sorry to hear about that dude. I will say this, you being the nice guy you are probably handled it like a gentleman. It would've taken a Dodge, Ford, and Chevy to pry my arse off that service manager if I had your truck and he had accused me of beating on it. I'm not kidding! What a completely arrogant, ignorant, and pusilanimous thing to say. What an idiot! You treat that truck super well. I think I have a picture of you wiping it with a diaper even. I guarantee you I'll never be going there for anything.



So now that your warranty is coming to an end, when are you gonna let some of us "more dimented" types spend some quality time with it? I promise we'll be gentle.
