As I was cruising down I 80 I topped a little hill and no pull in 5th. There was no vibrations, no noise just no 5th. I pulled it apart and every thing had slid back on the output shaft. The output shaftalso has some deep grooves from the gear rocking on the shaft.

I have been wanting a 6spd so now is a good time for a upgrade.

Hi Ken!

Sorry (?) to hear about the 5th gear. Have fun with the swap, 6 speeds are cool. It'll probably make towing your house a little easier too.

I have a 6 speed, new, latest version installed at 51k miles, now have 57k miles. If anyone wants to trade for a 4500 (including labor and required parts, clutches my SBC con OFE will go with the 5600) PM me.

Sorry Craig

I already have mine sitting on the floor,and the new clutch arrived yesterday. What happened to yours?

Sorry to hear about the 5th gear, but probably better now than while you're on vacation. I'm thinking about doing the fully splined mainshaft on the '97 before it lets go.

I changed oil the other day

on the trans and found chipped teeth and High metal content in oil ran magnet in bottom of case to get pieces out and got none but there is a lot of metal paste in bottom of trans.

Boy do I have good luck!:{

I dealt with Kieth Winkler at Bluementhals, he seemed real knowledgable. We had talked of some problems with the early model 6spd, thats the reason I went with the HD unit.

Got my clutch installed last night, my son is going to help install the transmission on Sat.
