I sold it for $8000. 00. It's trade in value was $14000 and some odd dollars. I owed Cummins $1239. 00, found a motor and turbo through my work (I'm a painter in a dealership bodyshop) for $3500. 00 with 75xxx miles. At this point with the truck, I am not willing to keep it, so no matter what I did, I was going to get rid of it. There has been an on going "joke" with all the guys from work and pretty much anyone that knows me. The "joke" was that I was going to beat this truck. It has given me alot of problems since the day I picked it up (I am the original owner). I was very meticulous about maintaining it. Oil, fuel filter, wheel bearings etc. You get the point, whatever it needed,I did. The trucks had to have 9 track bars in its 104000 miles, a couple of steering shafts, dampeners, a/c evaporator, calipers, 4 fuel tank sending units, ball joints (only once) which should be expected, transmission, starter, pretty much you name it, it's needed it. Fortunately, I bought the extended warranty and most of the above was covered under that. But that doesn't make the down time any easier. When the fuel pump went out at around 20000 miles it spent about 2 1/2 months at a Dodge dealer to only end up being towed to Cummins for another month. No one was having much luck getting it timed right. Cummins finally got it right. This story could go on and on but what's the point. I just have had terrible luck with this truck and I have to quit dumping all my time and money in this truck. I know alot of people have great luck with these and I KNOW from being in a dealership for 15 years, some cars just simply have ALOT of problems. The reasoning for letting it go for $8000 as I started saying earlier was by the time I paid what was owed to Cummins, bought and installed the motor for $3500 (plus all the incidentals you run into doing a motor job) I would be looking at $9261. IF I got $14000 for it and I didn't have to fix or replace anything else while doing the job. After considering all of that, $8000 sounded alright to me. I did go to brand X. I couldn't afford a new truck now,so you can't be extremely particular, especially when I don't have a vehicle to drive and my trailer was still sitting in storage with the gallon and a half of oil all over it. I found a 2002 3/4 ton , 4 wheel drive,Chevy with the Duramax and Allison. I got it Friday and finally got to get the trailer home tonight to get the oil off it. Hopefully this one will work out. It has 15000 on it and is real clean. That's my story. I still say this is the best membership there is. I've gotten alot of REAL advice and opinions from the members on here that always seemed to be correct. There have been alot of times (as you read) when I needed to know stuff and in a hurry and someone always had the answer. The right answer usually too. Enough of the sob story. Good luck with your trucks. Hopefully the Chevy will treat me fair, if not hopefully there is a Chevy page on here, just kidding.
