I lost a good elder friend today. He never posted on the TDR but he was a member. He didn't own a computer. His name was Dan. He was 76 years old and a Dodge/Cummins lover. He was on his 5th Dodge/Cummins pickup. He owned a couple of first gens, 2 second gens and I went with him late last year to pick up his current '07,5. 9 Laramie 4x4 new. I found it for him on the dodge dealer web site. I worked on his last three trucks for him and he was always a kick to be around. He was an electrician and i had the pleasure of working with him on several ball buster jobs. This guy in his 70's would work a 10-12 hour day on a job. I was kinda the grunt but he trusted me with alot of tasks as I have a pretty good knowledge of the jobs.
When ever he needed me to work with him he would tell me to meet him at 6:00am at this old locals cafe and he ALWAYS bought you breakfast.
Dan was in the NAVY during KOREA and I guess he was quite a wheeler dealer. He smuggled lots of booze onboard and sold it for quite a profit!! He even sold to the officers!
He was an avid motorcycle rider in the early 50's through the late 80's. He had Triumphs and told me many a story of his adventures on the bikes and in the local jails. His wife, Ann, had a old Harley 45ci bike called Gertrude.
Dan was a REAL GUN HEAD!! I learned more stuff from him about guns, loading, and all the different powders and bulletts you can use. He had quite a collection of pieces.
Funny thing is that I just talked to him on the phone a few nights ago and he was asking me about servicing his truck.
Dan lived LARGE... ..... I'll miss the old fart!:{
