2007 Cummins 48re 4wd. So I was driving the other morning and truck didn't want to shift into 3rd. finally did and drove normal for 10-15 minutes. stopped at a redlight and when i hit the accelerator i went nowhere. no forward and no reverse. Pulled the codes and got p1757 and p2509. dropped the trans oil pan. oil smelled a little burnt and had some sludge on the magnet but no visible metal shavings. found a hollow bolt with maybe a 3/4" wrench head and only about 1/2" of threads ( I attached a pic) laying on top of the valve body and have no idea where it came from but assuming it has something to do with my problem. been searching the internet for hours trying to figure out where it came from. Talked to my transmission parts supplier and he says hes never seen anything like it. He talked to a guy who thinks it may have come out of the overdrive extension but I can't see where a bolt or plug would be in there. I tried replacing the solenoid, transducer, and wiring harness in the transmission, refilled with fluid, started the transmission back up and put her in gear and pulled right out of my shop. backed it back in and parked it for the night thinking the solenoid was the problem. tried to go for a test drive today and got about 50' and had nothing again. I don't want to tear the transmission out till I have a better idea of what the problem is. Any ideas here? I really thought that bolt was a plug of some sort in the valve body that was letting all my pressure out but couldn't find anywhere that the bolt would possible go.
