Yesterday I lost speedometer and tack (12 valve). Today, I started to notice amperage loss. I have taken off alternator to get checked. Also, battery charger started to fry when hooked up. "Yes red to positive" :) Maybe battery charger is no good? Is this a coincidence with the speedometer and alternator or failing so close together? Thanks, Ramzilla.

Ramzilla, when the tach doesn't work charging doesn't work. The PCM turns off charging when the tach is offline. Your alternator should be fine. If you lost both tach and speedo it makes me think the problem might be your PCM.

More the crank sensor than the PCM there...

Rkeeler: check the plug that goes to the crank sensor on the front of the engine, behind the harmonic balancer. . I believe its a 3wire plug, one +5v, one ground, one sense. Take it apart and spray with contact cleaner (not wd40 or the like). Let dry, then reassemble. If the problem stays, it could still be a bad sensor rather than the PCM. New sensor is prolly a good bit cheaper than a new pcm. .

good luck
