Hey gang, need a bit of wisdom here.

Drove through a mcdonalds killed engine to place order then restarted. Got chime and then noticed that I had no gauges and odmoeter was flashing, and most of the idiot lights were remaining on.

Got order and drove to safe spot to try restart. Engine restarted and all gauges came back on-line as did the odometer, however I now have a check engine light on.

Called dealer and he said he would scan for free I'd like to have a bit of an idea before I get there as to what might be the culprit.

thanks in advance

Truck:

1998. 5 ISB 3500 4x4 QC.

Mods: 275 injectors, PM boost module, 4" exhaust, DTT valve body, gauges-boost, pyro, and trans temp. , extra deep trans pan.

Could be a bad connection from your boost module to the MAP sensor. When I hooked up my Edge EZ, Massdiesel told me to always check to see if your check engine light comes on. Bad or corroded connections sometimes can cause it to trip.

Hopefully your dealer is BOMB friendly because he maybe able to tell you have had something hooked up if not then You may run into trouble. :(

Pull your code

Cycle the ignition key on-off-on-off-on (note: not the start position), leave it on the 3rd time and in the OD there should be a code that was set. Get the code and ask again for the translation of what that code means.

Dealer is totally aware of my modifications. Actually he has referred a few owners to me for suggested modifications. He also doesn't really care anymore about warranty issues since I have 157,000 miles.

As for the pulling code idea I will try but I thought that all the Odometer did on the 1998. 5's and newer was do an internal check of systems working not any really useful info, this I need to take to dealership for the DRB magic, too bad I don't live closer to my brother in Michigan at his shop he's got all the works, and he didn't have an idea right off w/o the DRB in hand. Any Cummins owners in SE Mich. the shop is Curts Service 248-545-0500 knowledgeable shop and 20 plus years in the business.

Went to dealership and they went through disgnistics and found only that at some time the PCM and Cummins computer failed to keep in contact no reason offer for why. Reset MIL and since initial event there has been no problem.

Strange
