I lost my Spare truck key a couple of months ago. It is the one with the chip and opener and alarm buttons. Where is the best place to get one at a reasonable cost?

My dealer gave me a chipped key and cut it for me, free. I went out to the parking lot with two programed keys and the instructions on the Owner's Guide and programed my own.

jungledave,

There are several good posts on this forum dealing with new keys.

Just enter "keys" and go from there.

In my thread, I had exactly your same problem.

I bought two chipped keys on the internet for $15/ea. then had both cut and one programed at a local WI locksmith for $35.

Then with two chipped keys I did the same as Grizzly.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find keys with remote entry buttons, except at the dealer ( $170/ea. ), so I use my orig. key daily, and keep the the new ones as spares.

Good Luck, Ray

Try this ebay link eBay Motors: 06 07 08 DODGE RAM & CALIBER TRANSPONDER REMOTE KEY (item 360079645173 end time Aug-17-08 16:15:12 PDT)

$63 for key and $13 for shipping = $70. You didn't say what model year truck you had. I think this may make some difference, but you'll have to go to the dealer to get it programmed if you only have one key with a transponder. If you had two transponder keys, you can program a 3rd key yourself by referring to the owners manual.

You can also get a transponder key without the remote as stated in previous post.

thanks for the Info. Oh yea the truck is an 06 mega 3500 srw 4wd 6sd.

E -bay has some generic chipped keys for 10 bucks plus shipping oem ram style chipped key about 19. 00 plus shipping

just bought a second chipped key. waiting for it to arrive

Mo' on keys.

Yeah,I read about the necessity to always have two keys handy for the owner programming so I went the E-bay route and parked the transponders in the drawer. I don't have the factory security only sentry, so I manually open the doors with the E-Bay specials. I would have just got an ST w/manual everything except Dodge doesn't offer power seats on the ST. Less caca to worry about.

Go to a reputable locksmith and have a couple extra's made, and don't worry about the cost. Being a locksmith for 21 years I have seen my share of just plain stupid people who refuse to pay the cost for keys only to find out that later down the road they would have traded there right arm to go back in time to correct there ignorant ways.
