Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Lost my oil-puke bottle

Found my oil leak. Lost my oil-puke bottle.

Dealer does not know what I'm talking about.



Any bad to not having one for a while?



Has anyone used a gatorade or ???? bottle instead?

Get a 3/4" to 3/4" male to male connector and a foot section of tubing, and extend it down to the sway bar. Forget about the puke bottle.

... NO oil residue ANYWHERE under my truck, the old sock around the bottle catches all oil vapor, and gets changed during oil changes when I'm under the truck anyway. NO oil drips on my garage floor, or friends driveway...

what about the dust geting in from the engines constant vacum/pressure while running?



Do we all need to chuck the cans and get a better system, One that incorperates a breather to take dust out out of incoming air? I think that with long life synthetics out there and extended drain intervals that this is an importand weak link in the cleanliness and protection that our oil provides.



Any suggestions for us newbies???

The stock DC setup (breather bottle) uses NO filtration - but as seen, my setup with the sock outer covering DOES provide both oil absorbancy AND filtration, tho' it doesn't appear to be an issue with DC or Cummins...

someone posted something a while back about running there hose to a newly welded fitting in the down pipe to burn the oil overflow oil vapors and pull a slight vacum on the oil side of the motor said that it helped ring seal and all that...





who was is chime in tell us how it worked out!

Here is some thing I put together that works exceptionaly well. Soon I will make up more kits. I just checked the bottle after about 4 months and had about 4oz of water in it from the winter with no oil. I just turned 100K on the engine. I starting thinking: If we put enough hoses and stuff on top of the engine it can be as good as a PowerStroke or DuraMax.

Practical solutions, at times, may not look pretty but vanity has never been much of a problem when it comes to the mechanicals! (on my truck any way)
