I was driving along and lost my speedometer, and the ABS and Break Lights came on. It is not the clockspring, because I still have the cruise control light and horn. I drove about 400 miles and now it's working again. Do you think it's the vehicle speed sensor?

Many thanks!

This week I lost my speedometer and odometer and also cruise control. I get the same lights on dash, "ABS" and "brake". Mine only worked intermittently for a couple of miles and now dose not work at all. I have not tried to locate the source of the problem yet. I also have 99 green short bed. Let me know what you find out to be the solution.

Mine had the same problem. It was the sensor in the differential. I took it out and cleaned it but that didn't help. I had to replace it. Not a big deal, just held in by one bolt.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you guys. I finally got it fixed. It was the vehicle speed sensor, but it did not store a code the first time. But they did order a vehicle speed sensor, and when the part arrived, they checked it for a code and it did have a vehicle speed sensor code in it this time. Been driving for 3 days now (400 miles) and everything seems fine. I had them check the track bar while I was there, believe it or not, the track bar was good. However, the steering box had excess play in it. I got a brand new steering box (not reman) and an alignment. It's a good thing too, the warranty runs out in 2 weeks. Thank goodness for a good dealer, there's not too many of them. The dealer is Ramey Dodge in Princeton, WV.

Big Ed. .

Great, kudo's to your dealer. Saginaw boxes get loose quickly, especially w/ a 4x4. Follow the TSB for steering wander on the dodgeram.org or dodgeram. info site. It involves the over center adj. and pinion preload adjust. Both can be performed on the truck.

I would "Luke's link" the track bar and then forget about it, except for an occasional snugging up and a squirt or too with the grease gun.

Good luck

Andy
