Finally got to dyno and lost 36 hp going from a 150hp edm (I was told they were the Edge Jammers)to Mach 5s. Is this common? Truck is making low hp #s from what I see and hear it should be making. Sled puller 66, Mach 5 and Edge drag comp is under 375 hp rwhp corrected #s. What are signs of a bad VP if not pulling any codes. Was breaking up a little sometimes on dyno. Edge box made 123 hp last time on dyno and this time it only made 52 hp 5x5. Mad ecm is only making 10hp peak 3200+rpms and my stock makes more hp up to that. Any info?

Sound like a possible fuel delivery or program problem. I dont see any upgrades to your stock fuel delivery lines or pump and you definitely have a BIG demand for fuel!just my 2cents

Almost sounds like a bad Comp connection.

With M3's, PDR35-12 and an EZ, I did 388.

You should have alot more than that.

What kind of dyno was it? What kind of fuel system do you have? What was the fuel pressure? What were the EGTs?

Very good Q's! I don't think it's the injectors you should make around 380-400hp no box with a stock ECM.

It's the combination of MAD and COMP. They often don't play well together. I favor the MAD/TST combo, but if you already have the COMP, then just ditch the ecm.

The timing is too much unless you have a special MAD version with less timing, designed to work with the Comp. Even then, the Comp doesn't always work well with the ECM because the Comp has so many different firmware versions, and the ECM is just not able to account for all the differences.

I'd bet you see more HP with a stock ECM.

Either that, or your pump is going out!

Ive had 4 different mad ecms on the dyno

Have fass pump & 15psi and maybe see 13 at the lowest ever. The first time I dynoed a Mustang. 30mph start to 80 with o/d off and tq locked with toggle switch. the best I could get was 393hp corrected with comp drag box, 150hp edms and my water meth. Water made 10hp. comp was making 123. 5 hp so that put me a 260hp with ecm and 150 edms. The stock ecm made more hp til about 3k then from 32-34k the mad ecm made 10-12 hp more. I questioned this because this is the oppossite then what I thought the ecm is to do down low power. I sent that one back (with the dyno sheets)and got a new one. This was for a stick (got the chuggin in it). got a nother one and dynoed that one. Didn't have the special on it so I got another one. The right year and made for an auto trans and went and dynoed againwith my new Mach 5 set up. This time I made 299 hp with Mach 5 and stock ecm. Mad ecm was 312 hp but same thing. Hp was 3k+ range. stock still makes more hp down low. This time the comp only made 51hp with the 5s insted of the 123hp it made last time. Also the water made 50hp this time instead of the 10hp it made last time. The best I could get was 363hp with mad ecm and 352 with stock ecm. Another thing is the hp curve goes up then drops about 30hp and goes up again then peaks out with the box on.

312 hp mad ecm (special ver. ) box off

327 hp " 1x1

343 hp " 2x5

339 hp " 3x5

357 hp " 4x5

363 hp " 5x5

299 hp stock ecm box off

352 hp " 5x5

I'm about to give up on the Mad ecm.

Have you tried another Comp box? The numbers look odd fron 2 to 3.

You parenthesized the "no box" on your post yet give #'s for the box. Are you running the box on the dyno? Mike

cant get pictures to work

here's two runs with the box off

mad ecm stock ecm

tq hp tq hp

611 313 547 299

575 287 516 277

538 262 485 255

317 109 298 123

281 83 267 101

stock ecm was 295hp, 523 tq at 63 mph at 2960 rpm

Mustang dyno charts are hard to read with no rpms on the charts!

Kevin,

I'm sorry that it took 4 different ECM's before you got the right one for your truck but I can only deliver what the order says. That said...

So your truck is low on power. Has that to do with the CaTCHER/Comp combination? We'll see...

Let's see the facts.

1) Your #'s are low also with the Stock ECM.

2) You don't have the expected gain in the lower RPM range with the CaTCHER ( But you see the tipical gain in the high RPM range. )

3) You see different gains for the same power adders during different dyno runs.

Hmmm, my best guess ( I can only guess from here! )... I'd get a new MAP sensor.

Marco

On Edit. A second thought. The problem could also be the Comp. It deals with the MAP signal also. Have you ever done a test drive with the Comp completly disconnected?
