lost power

my 1996 4x4 5spd 3500 HAD the power to pull with anyone but noe I need to stay in the right lane out of the way I pull a 98 avion with a pin weight of 2617lbs. the only thing I have noticed is the turbo is very quite it did whistle How do you test the performance of the turbo

You need a boost gauge, without one all you can do is guess what's going on. A pyrometer is another gauge you need to really monitor your engine. Other than that you can pull the hose off of the intake of the turbo to see if it spins freely and tighten all your pressure hoses going from the turbo to the intercooler and from the intercooler to the intake.

My 96 did that and the overflow valve spring was weak. It should measure . 500. If its not , stretch it to . 550 and reinstall, if its better buy a new overflow vale as that will be a temporary fix. My local fuel injection place has Bosch valves for $60. 00 so check around, DC will getcha otherwise.
It takes about 15 minutes to R+R the spring, just put rags under the fitting area so you dont lose the sealing washers.
